That's interesting, i never really noticed that. Hopefully he can still be a leader but also a good teammate if he ever does get here.

He is a great player, but that is different from being a winner.

I think HE is a reason his teamamtes always suck. I think it is impossible to play with him right now.
I hope he grows up. I can't see myself rooting for a guy who yells at his teammates during time-outs, and rolls his eyes and shakes his head derisively when they make mistakes. Part of the blame for that has to go to his coach for letting him get away with it.

A leader is someone who inspires others to acheive greatness. A leader is not necessarily the best or most talented player. I think he is a selfish prima donna. Kidd has received a lot of criticism recently, but he never showed up a teammate or called him out in the press. I se LeBron as the opposite.

Kidd said essentially the same things to the media that Kenyon did after the Game 4 loss to the Lakers.

I guess you could criticize a 22 year old kid who carries a group of scrubs to the NBA finals for getting frustrated, but I wouldn't.
You call him selfish, but the way he plays is just the opposite. Really I don't know what point you are trying to make.

And if his organization fails to build a team with enough leadership, it's not his fault. He's a child. He hasn't let his ego interfere with winning (just the opposite), and his teammates have had just as many or more big playoff moments than he has.

    (phone=short posts)

The guy who fits the profile you describe is Dirk Nowitzki, who is a jerk who shows up his teammates and chokes when it counts every time.

    IMO,

    1) Lebron is truely a superstar, that young with that kind of talent is remarkble. Jordonesque.

    2) However, (maybe im biased) I do not really want the nets to lose and *rebuild* till 2010, and have a slightly higher chance than other teams to sign LBJ, and hope to win. Its like building a losing team for 2 years to have a slightly higher chance to win.

    3) I also think, althought the Nets are saving cap, they should sign some solid and young players for more than 2 years, Lebron does need teamates.....

    4) due to the fact that I am a Carter fan, I want the team to WIN NOW, not later. The trade of carter for szcerbiak was the bomb.... Carter+LBJ on cleveland!! .... damn... but an extremely shitty deal for NJ.

Oh well, I just hope we do get LBJ or someone just as good, or else we would be wasting time. BTW, keep carter when its 2010, I believe he deserves it at the same time, a veteren star player like him could be essential for a championship.

We're rebuilding this year. There is ZERO chance of us winning the championship this year. Someone look up the odds at Vegas. We only have Carter as the star player, the rest are average to above average role players. We can't win on our defense either.

Maybe if Yi magically changed into Amare and ran the break then jam down people's throats, but....... no way.

I think this team will be very fun to watch. Just didn't want to go beyond reasoning, thinking they're contenders. Check on the internet to see the percentage of rookies turning a team around in 1 year. Durant and Oden did nothing to add wins for their teams. Al Horford and Stuckey were maybe the only 2 that made much difference. Scola also did pretty well right away.

ya im with u... i constantly gota remind myself that it was only summer league... but i cant help and be excited... thing is with durant he had nobody else except himself... and oden was hurt all season... scola was in a good system... so if our 3 rookies work well in a good system with devin and vince.. and even Yi... i dont see why they cant impact the team in a great way [IMG]

The problem I see, with all the assets we're adding. We're letting a lot of good players go to build up cap space for the future. We added Lopez, but we're losing Kirstic and Diop. We got Yi and simmons, but lost Jefferson (we actually went backward there). We added Andserson and CDR, but losing Boki. Hayes, and Najera have little upside potential left.

All those guys we're losing were good players, on par with the level of new players coming in. I might sound crazy, but I think SWat will be the the X-factor in next year's outcome. Yi will get better, but no way he'll be as good as RJ this year. Simmons better have a good year or he'll be ran out of the league.

If Carter get any injuries, it's lottery time for us.

The thing I'm happy about this year is that although we might struggle, we know where we are since we're rebuilding. Last year, we were struggling and were not headed anywhere. And I expect a bad year because we have a lot of young people, but who knows? Maybe we can be the Rays of the NBA.

Does Brook Lopez also help marketing with the spanish community? Does anyone know his heritage?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Dumpy @ Jul 12 2008, 11:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I agree with most of the posts in this thread:

    (1) Brook will turn out to be a pretty special player, although not a superstar. There's no way that he should have been a top-three pick, though. He could turn out to be one of the top seven or eight players in the draft, though, and that is good enough for me.
    (2) I think each of the Nets' picks will turn out to be significant contributors. I really like what I saw from Ryan Anderson, and CDR's main talent is just that he's a winner.
    (3) regardless, you need a superstar or three to win the championship, and those guys don't qualify.
    (4) I hate LeBron James and am not looking forward to seeing him a Net. He could still grow up between now and then, though.
    (5) I have no idea how well they are going to play next year. The Nets will score more than anyone expects, and will be able (and willing) to get up and down the floor but who knows if those guys plus Yi will be able to play consistent defense, and be able to keep it up for a 90-game schedule (including training camp). That's a lot of games.
    (6) regardless, i think they'll be fun to watch.</div>

Dumpy, were you a MJ fan? how about a Garnett fan? Kobe(though different) fan?

I totally disagree with you. The guy is mature beyond his years. The guy had a hard life and is reaping the rewards of his hard work. So what do you think about VC?
