<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>According to multiple sources, point guard Mfon Udofia verbally committed to Georgia Tech on Tuesday following his game at the Reebok Summer Championship in Las Vegas. The 6-foot-2 Udofia is the second ESPN 100 guard to commit in as many days, joining Tommy Mason-Griffin who picked Oklahoma on Monday.

"The ACC continues to rack up ESPN 100 prospects," ESPN.com's recruiting director Bob Gibbons said.

Gibbons has seen Udofia on numerous occasions over the past year and loves his defensive ability. "I have watched Udofia play for his Miller Grove High School team, for the Renegades in my Tournament of Champions and at the NBPA Top 100 Camp and I have no problem saying he is the best defensive backcourt player in the Class of 2009," the scouting guru said. "He is more of a combo-guard rather than a pure point guard. However, defensively he can match up with and lock down any lead guard in the high school ranks. He is an effective scorer he just needs to become a more consistent outside shooter."

Udofia chose the Yellow Jackets over Miami (Fla.), Wake Forest, Kentucky, Alabama and Virginia. Fellow ESPN 100 prospect Brian Oliver (Bear, Del./Oak Hill Academy) and Kammeon Holsey (Sparta, Ga./Hancock Central) will join Udofia in coach Paul Hewitt's 2009 class.

"They felt like family, and I really got to know coach Hewitt and assistant coach Charlton Young," Udofia told reporters in Las Vegas. "And, it's a great feeling to know that I will be playing college basketball so close to home."

Gibbons said the Georgia native brings immediate backcourt depth to the Jackets. "He provides much needed guard depth for Tech," Gibbons said. "Next year he can play alongside point guard Mike Miller or challenge him for the starting job."</div>
