<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>LAS VEGAS, July 14 – In the highest scoring game of the week, Donte Greene's 40-point performance lifted the Rockets to a 100-97 victory over the Phoenix Suns at the NBA Summer League Presented by EA SPORTS in Las Vegas on Monday.

The contest wasthe first game of the 2008 NBA Summer League played inside the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of UNLV.

Supporting Greene in the win was Michael Harris' double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds and Maarty Leunen's16 points.

"I didn't know that it was a record – I was just here to get a W," said Greene on nearly breaking the Summer League scoring record. "Once I got to 36, Phoenix started keying in on me a lot more, so I started to look for my teammates to get them going. I got Aaron (Brooks) going, and Maarty (Leunen), and Mike Harris and we got the win."</div>

Well that's crap. I really wanted this guy at 21. I really like what the Nets did at the draft, but without trades we could have had a Bayless, Greene, CDR draft. :-(

I remember when we had an argument over Greene or Flynn being the better prospect. Granted this is summer league where Kebu Stewart scored 50, but it's still a step in the right direction for Greene.

Untrue. You were arguing with no one about who was a better prospect.

The original argument was over who was better as a frosh and then you started talking about prospects, and no one else was.

part of that is true. Pegs was talking about their freshman years, but he also made this statement, "He's a better team leader, a more efficient scorer, a smarter player, a better facilitator, and he's way more clutch than Donte. Even his defense is on par, more than I could say for Greene. The only thing Greene has over him is size."

And CelticBalla made this statement, "It's not a guarantee that Greene will pan out. He has that potential factor that everybody sucks up, but it doesn't guarantee that Greene will live up to it."

So Celticballa did make a comment about greene panning out in the nba, and pegs made a comment about the talents flynn has over greene.

Besides I'm just messing with him, stop getting your panties all in a bunch.

Yeah, Greene was a steal (not drawing this off of the game but have been saying it for a while). He's one of those guys like Hickson that could have been a sure-fire lottery pick with a year's distance from his high school class.

Why would getting Bayless be better than getting Lopez? Because of a summer league game?

Anyway, the more interesting story here is Aaron Brooks. 4-14 FG, 4 points to 6 turnovers, and 9 fouls. Ouch!

I'm also curious what position Mike Harris played. He had a nice game statistically, but didn't the Rockets want him to start moving his game out to the perimeter?

He was playing the PF position for the most part. I think the Rockets would prefer him to be a strong 3 rather than an undersized 4. He did hit some perimeter shots, including one off the dribble. He looked a bit trimmer too. One thing you can count on with Mike Harris is he'll bust his tail to make this team. I think the Rockets like him, and he may end up making the team as a replacement for Steve Novak (who's on his way out in the next week or two).

I was happy to hear this yesterday. Granted it's only summer league, but it's good see none the less. I have a question for those that watched the game and have a lot of Greene............can he create his own shot off the dribble? I've heard that he can fall in love with the jumpshot at times, and from what I understand he might not be big enough down low for a post up game just yet.....

He scored on a couple drives in that game, and he got the game winning assist off the dribble as well. He isn't a great ball-handler, and he doesn't have explosive athleticism. The comparisons I've heard for him are more Rashard Lewis rather than a T-Mac.

He does seem to play with a lot of confidence, and he's not afraid of shooting it. I think the Rockets are more interested in how he develops the other parts of his game.

I wouldn't mind a Rashard Lewis, especially since we passed on Rashard about a decade ago......

That was pretty much the only reason teams let him drop that far in the first place. Despite his athleticism, he attempted more 3's than FT's at the college level. The guy's got the tools, its just a matter of him realizing what is appropriate when.
