It seems to me that we have a slight problem. But nothing that Frank can't make even worse. All of the players on our roster (except KVH) are going to expect minutes, and one could argue that they all are deserving. But my point is that on most teams you have 4 or 5 players who you know aren't going to play and that frees up time for the other people to develop, enhances chemistry, and faciliates some sort of rotation. I'm worried that Frank is going to spread the minutes around too much (its inevitable if he plays everyone on the team) and then the right people won't develop and we'll be screwed (possibly into a #1 overall pick). Dont you think our team needs people that wont play? Im curious to here your responses.
Thorn isn't finished yet. He will convert some of the extra front court players into back court players.
But converting frontcourt players to backcourt players doesn't necessarily solve our problems unless those backcourt players don't play. We need to establish a rotation and that can't be more than 12 people.
disagree, different players will be given shots at different parts of the year, at about thirds of the season.
there are always players that unexpectedly suck. and, out of the non-sucky players, there are always injuries. a couple of players will get injured in training camp and be out for 2-3 months. so long as your bench guys are team players and will pateintly wait their turn, it'll be OK.
I don't agree. Depth, especially in the frontcourt, is a terrific problem to have. You can never have too many big men. This is why I'm very excited about this season. We're going to be terrible, but it will be very interesting to see which players are keepers and which are expendable. I'm hoping Krstic is brought back. Increase the competition even further. I wouldn't be too worried about Frank spreading minutes around and not developing the right players. The best players are going to play.

Look at last year. After the Kidd trade I thought we gave way too many minutes to Hassel. I know he was a decent defender or whatever but you have to look at the big picture. I could see Frank playing Najera and Hayes so much that CDR gets at most 8 min a game. I could see Swat falling out of favor too with all of the frontcourt players we have. We HAVE to give these guys a chance before passing judgement on them. I will be really pissed if were the 4th worst team instead of the worst team because we played Najera and Hayes.

He only played 11:54 mpg in 26 games. He got more burn in Dallas at 12:30 mpg in 36 games. And the only reason he got that many minutes here was because Nachbar hurt his back. Only other option was Ager and he got just as many minutes here as he got in Dallas. He actually got over 10 mpg over the last 7 games of the season.

It's a good situation to be in, however the young guys definitely need their share to develop. I'm actually wondering if the Nets can make the playoffs and develp their youth. It would be a pleasant surprize to be able to make the playoffs after trading RJ and Kidd.

If one guy is constantly out of position and messing things up for the others he makes a change. Can't blame him. I'd be bitter if I was Carter, Harris, Boone or whoever and I was playing with someone that was constantly out of position. Shouldn't punish those guys in order to teach another player. That's what practice is for. He gives them room for an occasional mistake.
I believe that they can... it depends on our rookies and devin and harris... and with the emergence of Yi.... Yi will be the difference maker...

I can't tell you how many defensive rotations those two blew last year. It was funny, because they took turns making each other look horrible on defense and offensively they work together seamlessly. You are right, though. Frank has gotten much better about playing the guys who earn their minutes. He just wants to win the game.
We may have alot of guys who can all play but once we develop a solid rotation we may be almost decent. I could see minute distribution ending up something like this 1. Carter 2. Harris 3. Yi 4. Najera 5. Lopez 6. Boone 7. Simmons 8. Swat 9. PG? 10. Hayes 11. CDR/ Ager 12. Anderson odd men out: Swift, KVH, Hassell, M. Williams (traded)
