Guys like Amarie Staudamire, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh have been names we could possibly get if we don't get LeBron, but the most interesting guy IMO in 2010 that we could get is Yao Ming. Yao can opt out in 2010 and that is something the Chinese government would love. China's 2 best players on the same team and the same front court in a major market. The marketing possibilities are endless.
Yao will be 29 and too worn out by then to offer him Max money... And everything shouldn't be about marketing only. I bet Lopez will be more efficient than Yao by then.

I am a businessman. This trade says $$$$$$ to me on many levels before basketball. I can see Yao taking a slightly less to come here. Then we may be able to get another star. I doubt wade leaves Miami. Depending on where LBJ goes and which ever one doesnt follow him, we can definitely have a chance to get either Bosh or Amare.
Dam I would love that but right now it's just wishing on anybody we want to get. 2 years is a long time.
2 years is a long time. By then one of your current players, or one you end up drafting, may have developed into a franchise talent. Then you wouldn't be worried about bringing in a star, so much as making sure you can keep your own.

surprisingly Yao is only a year older than Wade, both have some extra miles on them becuase they are injury prone. Amare will be 27 and Bosh will be 26, but the problem is we might not need one of those guys pending the development of mainly Yi, Lopez, and Anderson and maybe Swat and boone
WADE IS A WINNER!... id choose him if we couldnt get lebron... also amare has had his share of injuries as well... and we wont really need either bosh or amare cuz i expect Yi to pan out to be one of thorn/kiki best moves
Very interesting idea... however i doubt Yao will opt out of H-town... however... as everyone else said... 2 years is a long time and anything could happen... i am really hoping Yi and Lopez will be developed into a monster on either 3 or 4 and that will draw attention from other superstars.. again.... 2 years is a long time from now..

If Yao come here,Nets will be the most famous team in China,Nets have 2 best of chinese palyers, that‘s a good idea ,hope 2010 coming faster。

Yao's bball is vapid. it's new jersey nets, but not chinese nets. and i am afraid that, if yi will be traded one day, most chinese will give up nets just like what they've done to bucks. of course, even though yi was not traded to nets, many chinese have already been nets' fans, when i play basketball almost every weekend, i could see that some guys weared nets' jerseys, such 15#, and even 5#. These guys should be the most excited ones. anyway, 9# nets' jersey may be the most popular in the future.

Everything shouldn't be about marketing but how many guys do you know that can give you 20/10 in the NBA? Also I like the fact that Lopez is fundamentally very sound but to reach 20/10 2 years from now is setting the bar pretty high. Also people need to stop being so ignorant with all this marketing talk. Let's put it this way, if Yi doesn't perform then it doesn't matter where he comes from. People in China won't care about him if he sucks. Remember Wang Zhi Zhi? He was Chinese and sucked! Did you think he had marketing potential? Hell no. So the marketing potential is certainly there with Yi BUT it has to be back up by on court PERFORMANCES.
