I dont get it. Dude has never said or done anything negative to the team. Yet everyone talks bad about him, about how his head isnt right or he is crazy.

He isnt a bad player at all imo.
He just has to get his fous together. That comes from mentoring and coaching. after that is in place it takes the player to dig down and decide how good he wants to be.

For the nets to be talking so bad about a 2 yr player that is only what 22 yrs old?? that really shows me a lack of class with this organization.

If they give up on him because he fouls too much or sometimes doesnt know a play then i think that is really disgraceful.

I'm not sure as to what you're talking about. I haven't heard these "negative" talks about him.

He did get kicked off his college team for smoking pot. Perhaps, that's what it is, though, it really doesn't matter.

The Nets never talked bad about him. In fact, they took him DESPITE all of his problems throughout college. If you need to, look them up.

Focus has nothing to do with coaching. Either you concentrate or you don't.

As for your last sentence, that's actually a pretty good reason to give up on someone. He's supposed to be playing basketball. If he can't play basketball on an NBA level then he shouldn't be in it. Athleticism and weak side blocks does not equal good basketball player.

BTW, I don't think they are or should give up on him.

He's immature and kind of a goofball, but I have seen a lot of comments about how smart he is and how hard a worker he has become.

I personally have very high hopes for this guy. Out of all the Nets' draft picks over the last five years, he is my favorite because I think he is the only one that has a prayer of ever becoming an All-Star.

I don't know where this is coming from. Haven't seen the team say anything overly negative of him at all.

I think Dave D reported that they were concerned because he was singing in the shower after tough losses and just generally acting weird.

This guy has an offbeat personality that not everyone understands.

That was mentioned just after the season ended. Has nothing to do with anything going on today. The way this thread was started you would think there's a bunch of recent comments slamming Sean.

I told everyone, he's Andre 3000. He's not exactly "normal" in some senses of the word [IMG]

The bad rap I've heard on him (as well as Marcus) is that he has to learn how to be a "professional." That's incredibly vague, but I think it means he has to take pages out of the Boone/Collins playbook and just practice practice practice.

I bet most teammates like having an upbeat Andre 3000 kind of guy around. I'm guessing that's not the coaches dream though lol.

Part of the issue with Sean is assessing the probablility that he will eventually develop into a plus player, and, if so, how long it will take for him to get there. There have been many super-athletic players that never developed into good baskeball players. Right now, though, there are enough teams that value athleticism over skills that they'd be willing to give up something valuable for him . . . unless he makes improvements, that number will gradually start to decline over the next two years.

Assessing the long-term prospects of someone like Sean is very difficult. You also have to try to project how he will be best effective, based on his size and skill set, and whether that would fit into what the Nets are looking for.

I don't mind his flakiness, so long as he isn't outright immature and demonstrate adolescent behavior in the locker room or at practice, which we'd never hear about. There's nothing wrong with being flakey. It's just an outlet for a different type of person. Believe me, if there's something I understand, it is flakiness.

But again, the issue here appears to be ore of accurately projecting his future and his upside . . . Rod Carney and James White are super athletic also, and look where it has gotten them.

The Nets historically have declined to pay for young players to learn basic basketball skills--they want their draftees to have a good sense of the fundamentals and be able to contribute on a consistent basis. Sean was the biggest deviation from that policy, as far as I can tell.

His size makes him an odd fit for the C or PF positions--he often looked dwarfed last year by some of the bigger players in the league--I think otherwise he's behaved himself enough not to deserve the "attitude" nonsense being tossed his way. [IMG]

Isn't he 6'10 thats not bad but I had the same feeling that he doesn't have the muscle to play down low. He really has to bulk up.
