    Mavs offering Bass and Stackhouse

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Always looking to improve, the Dallas Mavericks has reportedly throwing their hat into the Ron Artest chase. According to HoopsWorld's Bill Ingram and verified by Sam Amick of the Sacramento Bee, the Mavericks are apparently offering Brandon Bass and the expiring contract of Jerry Stackhouse for Artest. The Sacramento Kings are in a difficult position in that they don't want to have a disgruntled Artest in training camp - but the more he publicly demands a trade, the more challenging it could be for the Kings to get fair value. Bass is a promising young big man (in a 6'8" body) but far from an All-Star. At the deadline the Denver Nuggets considered sending Linas Kleiza but never pulled the trigger on a deal. Artest's market value appears to be that of an unproven but talented player with positive upside.</div>

Would be kind of a steal for the Mavs, and not bad for Sactown getting the expiring contract of Stackhouse.

Bass is a nice young big, their only nice prospect. Who could make them better in 2010. But Ron-Ron could make them scrap the rebuilding plan, so.... I dont know what this would do for our pick

It would be great if they do this but dont extend or re-sign him

They haven't thought about rebuilding not even for half a second.
Mavs want to win now, no matter what it costs them.

A better question is what does this mean for Smokey.

Hopefully, if it happens, Artest gets pissed, leaves, and they lose any chemistry they may have.

I hope this trade gets done. I think it would be interesting to see Artest in Dallas, with Dirk and company. Gives them another piece for their rapidly closing window....maybe they can get a ring before they have to blow it up.

    Sacramento wants Josh Howard.

Good move by the Kings turning this down, they could get much better offers than this.

Exactly. A lot of teams could use a player like Artest, someone is bound to offer them something better then a decent young big man and a past his prime wing player.

But at the same time Artest is hurting Sactown each time he goes to the media. Dallas said no to a "Howard for Artest" deal, most likely because they feel the Kings might be desperate at this point to trade such a disgruntled player. I have nothing to back up my statement but I have feeling that if Artest was happy in Sacramento then Dallas would definitely offer up Josh Howard. At this point, they feel they can get him for cheaper. We'll see.
