<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is wary of spending the transfer money he has at his disposal.

Wenger has been linked with big-money moves for Aston Villa's Gareth Barry and Liverpool's Xabi Alonso following the recent departures of Gilberto Silva and Alexander Hleb.

The Frenchman has already brought in Aaron Ramsey and Samir Nasri, but is cautious over limiting the chances of the current youngsters at the club by recruiting experience.

He told the club's official website: "Of course I am in a position where I can spend the money.

    Wage structure
"But every time we have done such a great job with the young players that you are concerned 'do we kill a young player or not by bringing another player in?'

"It is a very sensitive subject which is not specially linked with money."

Wenger went on to reject criticism over the club's unwillingness to disrupt their wage structure, amid rumours that Barcelona target Emmanuel Adebayor has demanded improved contract terms.

"There is a lot of talk in the press, but we have always managed at this club by balancing the budget," he said.

"We should not be criticised for that and should be respected for that."

The Gunners boss also bemoaned his side's misfortune last season, but voiced his determination to bounce back from the disappointment.

"It was by far [the most unlucky term], with the decisions and injuries. At some stage you could not believe how bad it was," said Wenger.

"But you have to deal with that and have to use it as a platform to come back and be even stronger mentally."</div>

I know Wenger means. At first i was against Arsenal's Wage structure, i thought it was stupid and if a player deserves more he should get it. Then the Greedy Ronaldo Saga came about and i realize why Arsenal do it. It gets rid of the greedy gits who play for the money not for the joy of football. Look at Dinho, He has moved clubs not because they are paying him more (I think he gets about the same as he did at Barca) but because he wasn't getting played and thats what he wanted to do. PLAY football. All i can say is that if i was Privelledged with the talent that players like 'Dinho, Ronaldo, Kaka, Fabregas etc i wouldn't be demanding more money. They are already earning what most people Dream about earning in a year. look at Ronaldo. He could be earning £100,000 a week at Man Utd which is an amazing amount. If a Businessman earned that in a year it would be amazing. But more money is being offered at a worse club (madrid) and he jumps straight on the bandwagon. Surely the richer you get the less likely you are to spend the increased disposable income. how much do you think Ronaldo has to play with a week? £60,000 or there abouts after Bills, Fees etc. Whats he going to do with the extra money? buy slighty more upper-class Hookers?

I agree with your post Max. Also they should have salary cap for football as they do for basketball (in the nba), that way every team has a set amount of money to spend on free agents and the field is much better for all teams that way (not only for the top 5 for example).

Also you don't end up paying a player more than they're worth.

Actually a salary cap sounds like a good idea. The Idea has been thrown around a few times. Some people say it should be around the £90k mark which i think is fair. The thing that Irritates me is when people say footballer should earn fair salaries I.E £2k-£5k a month which is stupid. The thing they don't understand is that Football clubs don't take money from Taxes to pay Wages, they fund it themselves and also the Premier League Alone, Not including the Championship, League 1 etc provides the Government with £6bil to spend each Year!!!!!!

The idea is being talked about a lot recently in the F.A. Although I belive that this is the best thing to do most players won't as well as the F.A Board.

A salary cap would be the best thing because that would put a stop to constant rise in ticket prices, since clubs pass on the expenses to the fans.

Yea I agree, but I doubt the F.A will do anything until it hits them in the face.

but then it could be too late. Also does anyone agree with Blatter's 6+5 rule where teams have to have 6 players of that nationality in the squad.

By "in the squad" do you mean the starting eleven? In that case, no.
