Lol, I loved how the Raptors were named. It sounds nice and we have the vest mascot, so suck on it.

Thunder is so bad, it sounds like a bantam girls basketball team. Outlaws is good and I would of liked the OKC Sonics, but I guess you can't do that.

What about something like Drillers or Wildcatters for OKC?

Homesteaders (i.e. OU in Norman) or a Native American based nickname should not be considered. Twisters should be dismissed as well (pun on my suggestions above).

I used to have a dog named Thunder. He looked exactly like this.

I don't know why they picked the Thunder. It's not original at all. I like the Sonics much better, but that's just my opinion.

Thunder is kind of lame. I wouldn't mind Outlaws, or Dirty Punks. :]

If it's Outlaws, it has to be with a z.

    Outlawzz

    Yeah, that's cool.

Maybe we can add a racing stripe and fuzzy dice too.

Sonics used to be Super Sonics. The team based in Seattle, home of Boeing.

Thunder is like the echo of a sonic boom. Not as bad as at first hearing the name.

Utah moved from New Orleans, where Jazz fit very nicely. Why they don't change it to something... Mormon or something else resembling Utah culture, I dunno.

These complaints will never stop until lakes form in Los Angeles and the Earth cools to the point where grizzly bears are roaming the streets of Memphis.

I actually thought Thunder was the best name of the 4 (for a NBA team). It reminds me of Tampa Bay Lightning a NHL team. And There are NBA teams that have inanimate objects that could be WNBA names like Magic, Wizards, Jazz, etc. A name is a name and eventually we`ll get used to it I guess.

I thought the Bobcats sounded like a "college" name, but Thunder??? That's like WNBA...

I prefer Oklahoma Outlaws, or Oklahoma Barons

Agreed, when i hear Oklahoma Thunder...it just sounds like a WNBA team. Outlaws or Barons were better...even Bison would've been better

Bees are the Angels AAA club, Grizzlies are the minor league hockey, Blaze is what they call the Arena team.

I hesitate to have something tied in to the dominant culture/denomination but Pioneers is a possibility. Thursday is Pioneer day which celebrates when the LDS settlers entered the valley en masse in 1847.

There is a big Copper mine in the SW corner of the valley or something having to deal w/ salt.... You know that big lake.

After some deliberation, how bout the Express? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_spike

Thunder is better than Nets. We're all used to the "New Jersey Nets" and at this point it just rolls off the tongue, but what a god awful name. Imagine the "New York Bats", "New York Footballs" etc.

I agree with Outlawz. It's decent, I guess.
