He entered a no contest plea to the sexual battery charges earlier this month. Tamayo was arrested last spring and accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16 year old student.
Not sure about you guys, but I find this to be one of the better kept government secrets. I can post more and more of these, and will every day, that shows it's a very widespread and too frequently occurring problem. It's not that the news doesn't cover any one of them, it's the sum total of all of them that add up to an epidemic, and it's not infrequent that the schools cover up a lot of these things by transferring the teachers.

Collin Holcomb, 38, admitted to having sexual contact with one of his science students at Norris Middle School. In court on Monday, Holcomb said his actions were horrible, and said he wanted to become a productive citizen. The county attorney said Holcomb targeted the 13-year-old victim three years ago and started meeting with her in Churchich Park. Some suspicious neighbors called police and Holcomb was arrested for third-degree sexual assault.

Leonardo Brenes, 42, was a Spanish teacher at Colonial Heights Middle School and coached soccer at Colonial Heights High School. He had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student who played soccer. In the trial today, Colonial Heights Circuit Court judge Herbert Gill found Brenes guilty of taking indecent liberties while maintaining a supervisory relationship with the victim and of carnal knowledge of a juvenile. The maximum sentence for each felony is five years. Brenes' sentencing is scheduled for October 6. In September, Brenes is expected to go to trial in Prince George on similar charges. -- Luz Lazo

Brenes had been charged with attempted carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent liberties with a minor. The maximum sentence for each felony is 5 years. Brenes, a Costa Rican immigrant, also faces possible deportation after serving his time. The victim testified during the trial that she had fallen in love with Brenes because he served as a male role model and father figure that she never had because her father was in prison for child molestation. She also said that she had been molested as a child herself, though not by her father. The young woman testified that she had sex with Brenes at his home last summer while his children were playing upstairs and his wife was out running errands. Brenes will be sentenced Oct. 6. He is also scheduled for a Sept. 4 trial in Prince George County on similar charges related to the same girl.
No, I think it's important for the secular humanist religion crowd to realize their own are just as guilty as the catholic church when it comes to these matters.
