Chris Cyborg is a beast. She should be a good challenge for Princess Carano. Shayna Baszler needs to do some cardio work before she gets TV time again.

The Reis/Caraway fight was very entertaining even though the slobs in the stands were booing. The pace that Reis established in the first eight or so minutes was incredible. You have to love watching featherweights fight.

Antonio Silva isn't as good as advertised. EliteXC needs to bring in some good competition for him so he will step his game up. They can't feed him any more easy fights if they want him to be a credible champion. Eilers had no business fighting for the title, even if it is a shitty one.

Feijao is scary. EliteXC can build a division around him. Galbraith isn't a can but he has fought at welterweight. A last minute call-up shouldn't be expected to gain 20lbs and still put on a competitive fight. EliteXC needs to spend some money and get a real roster going. Bringing in last minute guys isn't going to help their brand.

Jake Shields is a great fighter but he has no right to call out GSP or Jon Fitch. The guy could've gone and signed with the UFC if he wanted to fight the best. Instead he is happy to be a big fish in a small pond. The UFC doesn't cross-promote (well, they haven't in a long time) so Shields is going to be stuck in limbo for the next couple of years. GOAT Thompson is a legitimate opponent but after this fight the talent available for Shields to prove himself against is dubious.

I keep forgetting how young Nick Diaz is. At just 24-years old the kid has loads of room to improve. He took some lumps in the UFC but he is still younger than the majority of the division. He needs to be tested against guys better than Thomas Denny. He also needs to develop some striking defense other than using his face to block punches.

Why guys don't kick Robbie Lawler in the legs is beyond me. Predictable TKO win for Ruthless. Scott Smith is a middle of the road fighter who is exciting but not good enough to be fighting for a title.

What did he say about GSP and Jon Fitch? I missed this event.

He'd love to fight the winner of that fight.

He said he wanted the winner... so he was basically asking for GSP to come and dominate him IMO, cause Shields is a good wrestler with submissions IMO and GSP ran over Hughes and Koscheck and is about to do the same to Fitch.. I just don't see Shields being superior to any of those 3 guys and I see him on his back eating elbows.

It was a good night for fights.. I was pissed to learn that although Cris Cyborg hadn't fought MMA in 2 years, she's being fighting Muay Thai and grappling tournaments!!! I thought she'd have some ring rust dammit!!

I missed the undercard, but I agree Bigfoot Silva is way overated.

Elite XC has A LOT of work to do to attain a deeper talent pool. The champions are facing guys they should beat and only huge upsets will see the champs losing their belts anytime soon IMO.

having the ladies on the main card is good IMO. Every one of their fights has been good.

    Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's the results folks.

Big Congrats to ZAE and Big Frame, both guys were perfect in their picks as they were the only two ppl to pick Cristiane Cyborg. Both guys had the top two scores as well.
Lowest record was 5-2.. very nicely done by everyone!!

I was going to pick Cyborg.. but she hadn't fought in 2 years.. then I hear on the broadcast she's been fighting Muay Thai fights and competing in grappling tournaments in that time!! DAMN. Gina Carano has some competition now I'd say.

    the results:

    1 ZAE 70pts 7-0
    2 Big Frame 64pts 7-0
    3 Speeds 61pts 6-1
    4 Celtic King 58pts 5-2
    4 Valo35 58pts 5-2
    6 Celtic Fan 55pts 6-1
    7 Trench 52pts 5-2
    8 Chocolove 49 pts 5-2
    9 Black Mamba 47 pts 5-2

Get ready again boys, we have WEC 35 on August 3rd (next Sunday) then UFC 87 the following Saturday !

If anyone is going to be on vacation or anything, you can PM me your picks.

It's weird, I like to consider myself a pretty knowledgeable MMA fan but I can never seem to pick the fights right.

yeah but sometimes too much knowledge makes you overthink a fight and it bites you in the ass.

I always struggle with the method and round. I think it's a close matchup and call a dec, but someone gets a shot or sub in and bleh.
Or I go the other way around and both guys are fighting to win, not finish the fight.
