<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>A disgruntled Eagle do when his efforts to get out of here come to naught?

Why, hire Drew Rosenhaus, of course.

Rosenhaus confirmed a report on the "Pro Football Talk" Web site yesterday - that Rosenhaus has been hired by Eagles cornerback Lito Sheppard, who formerly was represented by Peter Schaffer and Lamont Smith.

But before we all assemble for driveway situps or a press conference on Lito's lawn, a source close to the situation said Sheppard absolutely plans to report for training camp next week on time. That has been a burning question ever since Sheppard skipped the team's voluntary workouts last month.

Rosenhaus didn't want to detail the course of action he will take, but he did not seem to relish the idea of this situation taking the tone of his representation of wideout Terrell Owens, which became extremely adversarial before Owens' messy 2006 departure for the Cowboys.

"I'm very optimistic, working with the Eagles, that we're going to find a mutually beneficial solution," Rosenhaus said. He and his partner and brother, Jason, met yesterday afternoon with Eagles player personnel vice president Howie Roseman. Eagles president Joe Banner, on vacation with his family, joined the meeting via phone.

Sheppard, unhappy with a 2004 contract extension that locks him up through 2011 well below the going rate for free-agent Pro Bowl cornerbacks, was given permission to seek a trade early in the offseason. Schaffer and Smith met with several teams, but offers never rose to the level the Eagles expected, and teams were leery of Sheppard's contract demands with Sheppard coming off an injury-plagued season. In fact, Sheppard, scheduled to make $2 million this year, has missed 14 games over the past three seasons.</div>

It says Lito will still report to camp though, so that's good news. At least he's not being a bitch like TO. I'm hoping some compromise can be reached, because with Lito, our secondary is going to be sick. I would give Lito more money, he's a great cornerback when he's healthy, but he always seems to be injured. I want Lito here next year, but if an offer for a #1 receiver comes up, he's gone

Uh oh, I never understood the attraction towards Rosenhaus. Just go with someone who can keep this quiet but still get him what he wants.

Well, at least Lito is being mature about it..and I respect that.

We need to keep him though, and move Sheldon Brown to Saftey alongside Dawk.

Does Brown want to move to S though...? Many CBs don't. (Less pay). Can Brown play S?

This will be interesting to watch unfold. The Eagles front office has spent in free agency on the likes of Howard, Kearse, and now Samuels.....

They've also locked up younger players with multiple years left on their rookie contracts (Westbrook, Andrews, Sheppard)....in moves that, at the time, were beneficial to the Eagles and the players. They hit their paydays earlier than their counterparts, and the Eagles locked them into cheaper rates than what they would have if they played out their contracts and then hit the market. But now, in cases like Westbrook - he is way below market value, and its causing problems.

I don't know if he does..but with his skillset, I think he can easily make a smooth transition to Saftey. Alot of Eagle fans were saying the same thing when we initially acquired Asante.

I mean imagine though..having Asante and Lito at CB, and Brown and Dawkins at Saftey would make for the best DB rotation in the NFL.

I'd think in the base defense, that'd be good (assuming Brown can make the transition to S). But in nickle/other subpackages, it'd be better to have Brown at CB.

Not a genius at football by any means, but I think if he wants to, Brown would make a great safety. He's got good coverage skills, and he's a great tackler as well. Just look at his hit against Reggie Bush a couple of years ago in the playoffs. Bush got jacked up pretty bad. I remember he said he couldn't even breath after the hit
