I was unable to watch the draft as I was on vacation but when I got to see the draft board I was looking for players that were projected to go early in the lottery but slipped and then I say Bayless at the 11th pick. I was shocked that he dropped that far but even more disappointed in the fact that the Nets passed on him. If the Nets are looking to trade Carter someone like Bayless could jump in and fill his spot. The guy is a flat out scorer and can get it done. He has no real position, a PG/SG tweener but his game is just like that of Gilbert Arenas or Dwyane Wade. Even if the Nets had intentions of keeping Carter he could start at SG while Vince could start at SF. I think the Nets will regret not drafting him. Nothing against Brook Lopez but you should always go for BPA rather than drafting for a need.

Definately if we didn't have Harris but he is locked up for quite sometime and really don't think we could get as good of a player back if we traded him like the Bulls are doing with Kirk.

Portland guard Jerryd Bayless was named the top rookie of the NBA summer league on Sunday after averaging 29.8 points, the Arizona Republic is reporting.

For his efforts, Bayless was also added to the U.S. Select team which will scrimmage against the U.S. National team.

Bayless shot 49 percent from the field during the league. He hit 43 percent of his three-point attempts and collected 4.8 rebounds per contest.

I know it's only summer league but that is still quite impressive.

I saw that we drafted Brook Lopez, and I was like "Eh, not bad. At least it's not Robin". Then I see Jerryd Bayless went next. And I literally sat there for half a minute staring.

funny thing is...we have more of a need for a combo guard than another big man...the silver lining though is that brook didn't do too badly in summer league as well...

i woudlnt have drafted bayless at 21 let alone 10. i think he will be the biggest bust in this draft and can see why he slipped. he plays no defense, has a horrible attitude, is soft as it gets, and wont be able to score at the nba level

wow, thats a pretty unintelligent comment. Bayless is going to be a stud in the league.

Ya'll should really stop hating on Lopez, is he as dynamic as bayless? no. Was he the best big in the draft? YES. Regardless of what you guys say our biggest need was, the reality was it still is a big man. Just look at our roster, there all a bunch of what if's, and Boone who is a quality big who should come off the bench. Yea i wanted Bayless but i have no problem settling with the best big man in the draft who as far as i can tell has no problem scoring and is a legit 7 footer with some weight behind him. When was the last time we were able to draft the best big in the draft, Kenyon Martin with the number 1 pick.

I know someones gonna say we sould have taken arthur further down but he's not a legit center and we needed a big man, not another power forward, which is what all of our bigs are.

Brook will be better but Bayless will be good. He was a steal at his pick and will play at a high level. He is not soft. He plays hard and defense will improve.

Bayless is going to be a STUD! And i bet Bayless could hit free throws at the end of a big game. Good damn i love dissing CDR about that.

Bingo. I have no problem picking Lopez over Bayless. If Bayless, does well, than fine. However, let's not pretend a big man who can be a presence in the paint isn't a need for this team.
