The reason Sharone Wright shot .498 as a freshman is that he won the 3 point contest at the McDonalds All-American game and it took Cliff Ellis half a year to drum it out of his skull.

when we first drafted lopez i was so mad... because i wanted bayless so bad... but after what lopez has shown improvement and eagerness to learn... and a smooth medium jump shot ^^ im am not 1 bit sad... yes will bayless be better? maybe... but we addressed our needs... with our 3 draft picks and offseason signing... (including *officially* dooling) and i wana see what else rod thorn has up sleeve to WOW us [IMG]

    hoping its a GOOD WOW

I was at a Nets ticket holder breakfast on Friday.

Bobby Marks was asked who the Nets would have picked if Lopez had not fallen to #10 and he immediately said Jerryd Bayless, noting that Bayless and Harris play the same game but that wouldnt have mattered. He was too much of a skilled player to leave on the board. If they hadnt been available, they might have done the deal with Portland, trading #10 for #13 and another second rounder. (He didnt say it but in that scenario, Robin Lopez would have been a Net and not Brook).

He also said that the Nets discussed taking Courtney Lee at #21, but did not mention any of the others left on the board like Greene.

The old NBA adage about the draft is if youre going to make a mistake, make a BIG mistake, meaning a mistake with a BIG.

That was kind of a loaded question, though, because it assumes that the only remaining consensus top-ten player on the board at that point would have been Bayless. Everyone conceded that there were ten players in the draft that were the best prospects . . . all the nets seem to be saying is that they agree with that assessment.

A better question might have been: If the Nets had the #6 pick, who would they have taken? I'm really curious to know if interest in Gallinari was a ruse.

Courtney Lee fit the profile like a "T." In my view, it's unlikely that they would have taken him had they selected Bayless, though.
