    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>30/06/2008 10:38, Report by Steve Bartram

Sir Alex Ferguson says United are about to become active in the hunt for new players.

Now Euro 2008 has ended, the boss expects the transfer market to belatedly click into gear but says he is unlikely to bring in more than one new face to his double-winning squad.

"The European Championship derails transfer activity," said Sir Alex. "Nothing really happens during the tournament. But now it's all over, managers will be back at their clubs and you can get some dialogue now if there's interest.

"I wouldn't think (we'll sign) any more than one player. We are looking at one or two things."

Sir Alex now has the task of procuring the right player at the right price, a task which invariably proves taxing when faced with reluctant sellers.

"People think it's easy to buy players nowadays but it's not," he said.

"Money plays a big part, first of all. And clubs with ambitions don't want to sell their best players. So it's not as easy as you'd think. We tend to look for younger players."

Sir Alex was speaking to Sky Sports at the Great Scots Cup charity golf event.</div>

I am glad that he is at least going to buy one person.

You don't really need any players... Just one or two more for better depth.

    Maybe. lol

Every team has improved though, and in the end we might loose Ronaldo. (that would suck)

If you did lose Ronaldo, then you definitely need a huge buy in the attacking midfield area.

Well, the signing is gotta be a striker.

But if Ronaldo doesnt go, it only means we be stronger this season.

Santa Cruz and Berbatov are good choices right now.

I think Berb is the most dangerous striker in the premiership..but what puts me off is that, he moans that he on the bench..Such a cry baby...Reminds of Rudd Van Nist.. when Saha was on form, Rudd was left on the bench, which made his depart.

If that is going to happen, then Man Utd should get Villa..who we can get for cheaper then Berb.

    Hmm, nobody really jumps out.

Obafemi Martins, Torbinsky (even though he's more of a Left Mid)... And that's about it. My mind is broken.

Martins is a killer striker, but has those spells of where he wont score for a while, but would make man utd more deadly upfront.

Up-front Man. United need a goal machine that is consistent. 'Cause lets face it, Rooney and Teves don't really score every game. Nobody comes to mind now though. I have to sleep this jet lag off and then I'll get to you.

A up-front man i have in mind, is David Villa...Done Excellent in the Euro, and with Valencia doing poor in the LA Liga, i think him moving to Man Utd will be a great deal, plus it would be cheaper then Berb.

And i let you have your sleep, and we continue this later. [Make a thread about this or something]

Thats mainly due to ronaldo being the center of the team offense, they are very good strikers who are capable of being scoring machines but ronaldos presence is limiting their potential.
