He may have had the best PG skills on the team last year (after the Kidd trade, of course), but you could very easily argue that he never actually played like a point guard. He certainly didn't play any more like a point than Harris did.
I'm really not a Marcus fan, but I think he will break out in GS. I would not be surprised if he is their starting poinguard by midseason, with Monta sliding over to the 2 spot.

All he did last year was give the ball to Carter and stand behind the three point line for a kick out.

I'm a bit concerned about point guard now. We got an almost injury prone starter in Harris, backed up by Dooling and Caroll? Looks like the weak link to me.
Too bad things never worked out for Marcus in New Jersey. I remember all the excitement the night he was drafted. It just felt like a HUGE steal. Let's see if he can do any damage for the Warriors.
this sucks... but i suppose we got back fair value...but watch this guy turn into a good role player next year..
We actually pick up a quality back-up PG and people consider it the weakest part of the team. I guess that trainer in the Warriors gear working out with Marcus was sign. Maybe they sent someone to kick the tires? I wonder if the odds have gone up on the Nets winning today's summer league game?

I trust there will be another trade that brings in a capable playmaker. Right now, there are only two on the roster, and that's not enough.

Those two still have to get minutes along with Randolph and B Wright.

Also wondering if this means Marcus won't play tonight.

Dooling is as much a PG as Carter is. He averaged 1 assist last year. How is he a PG? This team needs Kyle Lowry in the worst way possible. Trade Sean or Boone for Lowry and then I'll be happy. You can sugercoat it all you want. You can trash Marcus all you want. As it stands right now the Nets don't have a legitimate PG on their roster.

Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya I'm surprised we got a 1st rounder out of him. That's a great deal for a no-defense, coming off injury, and pretty unproven point guard.

Just remember you can't trade in back to back years. As in if we don't get the pick this season, it's pushed back, what if they don't have a pick the following year as it was already traded? That is a No-No... This trade locks up their picks in more than the years we are able to get them (unless they have other 1st rounders or trade for them). I think it's a pretty big price to pay for Marcus Williams. -Petey

How many times has Marcus just dribbled the ball on the perimeter only to chuck up a contested 20 foot jumper? How many times has Marcus pulled up for a three off a screen instead of looking for the open man? How many times has Marcus tried to force his way into the lane, only to have a circus lay-up blocked by the opposition? How many times has he looked flat-out asleep while defending the opponent's point guard? He's been a disappointment from day one and you can't lay that one on Frank. Marcus never learned, never listened, and never got it. And likely never will.
