<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (nets1 @ Jul 22 2008, 11:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I caught the last 5 minutes and all i saw was Caroll shoot and shoot. He took every shot except maybe 3 shots. No big men involvement, and no chemistry among the team. It was all Caroll. He's really not all that good to be taken all those shots. Very selfish player.</div> I didn't like Carroll's interview. He doesn't realize his lack of court vision. He only see the defenders in front of him. He gets too happy after he scores instead of running the offense and looking for the open man. He's the undersized 2 guard with a chip on his shoulder forced to play point. That's not the right attitude. He is a talented scorer and obviously works extremely hard at that end of his game. Unfortunately, he's not getting it.
I really don't think Carroll can be utilized as a PG or even a combo guard, as thorn sees it. The best scenario for him would be to come off the bench for 10-15 mins a game and give a Eddie House kinda spark and just shoot to his heart's content (i mean, that's what it looks like he's trying to do out there) - because he can definitely shoot and can get into the land for a floater or a layup. He doesn't move his feet quickly enough to guard other PGs (he tries hard though) and would be both a offensive and defensive liability at the 1. He definitely looks out of his comfot zone trying to create offense in a pure point guard kind of role. I'd actually like to the nets bring carroll off the bench for the next game and see if they can utilize them to that kinda Eddie House role. Just come in and put up shots in limited minutes. However, then I'm not sure who the nets would play at the 1 for summer league since we already traded away Marcus...
During the game Rod was interviewed and was asked something about what he sees the Nets roster needing and he said more experience. Could it be a hint at the next move the Nets are going to pull off? Going to pull off a trade for a veteran? Sign a cheap veteran?

Nets would have won if they set up their half court offense a little better. They got away with it during the first half, but not the second. Wasn't too bad overall.</div> Apparently, many of you didn't watch most of the game. The Nets outscored the Jazz by over 12 points when JC was in the game. It was when he went out in the 3rd quarter that the Jazz went off, including when CDR was in the game. Also at the end of the game it was CDR that was guarding, and could not stop, Brazelton. So let's see, Thorn (Net's President), Frank (the coach), Layden (former Pres. of the Jazz and the Knicks), Hot Rod H (Jazz announcer and former Laker all-star), etc. etc. all liked the way JC played -- those on this board not so much. So JC should pass more to CDR when JC's the better shooter -- even if the coach has JC playing the 2 and instructed him to shoot (particularly in the last couple of minutes down by 5) For those that missed it, both CDR and Hodges played some point in the 4th quarter. It didn't work that well, because for all of JC's faults on this board, he's a better PG then either CDR or Hodges. So let's see, JC's the better PG and the better shooter in comparison with the Net's other rookies, but somehow he's a disappointment because he's not a natural PG. I'd say for a kid to be learning to play the PG position in front of our eyes, most on this board are far too critical and may not understand just how good JC is. Anyway, I'm sure none of us will decide his fate. I just thought I'd share a different perspective. BTW, so how'd you like the Jazz feed on the RMR. BBall is serious in Utah, even in July. About 4,000 people in attendance and into the game, with a national broadcast team doing the game (Hot Rod and Bolerjack). Beats the hell out of what we've seen in Orlando and Las Vegas.
all i see is a ball hog who doesn't look for team mates until he is jammed up. The offense did not flow. He would bring the ball over half court and immediately look for his shot. If he got stuck in the lane then he would look to pass and 4 guys were just standing around. Sorry, but that ain't good basketball. Yes he putting up points but who wouldn't with all those shots he taken. Sorry not impressed with the guy. He is a scorer, but a very low bbiq. And his defense is suspect. He will come to camp but won't make the team... oh yeah , go nets

Beats the hell out of what we've seen in Orlando and Las Vegas. </div> The team is full of scorers. Why have Carroll play the point and tell him to jack up shots? He's not even signed on the Nets. All 3 rookies are drafted for scoring, if you play the point or the coach is telling you to jack up shots, that's plain retarded. I'm sorry, it doesn't make any sense. Yeah, Carroll is good at scoring, we can all agree to that. He's also undersized. Thorn said, Carroll has to play point for him to have a chance in the NBA. Also, if all those Big Wig GMs from all the other clubs love Carroll so much, give him a contract. But we all know they see the same thing we did. When Carroll ran the break, he always looked for his shot first. I also saw him turn it over on a 3 on 1 break. Anyway, it's not all about Carroll, but he got most of the attention because the broadcast highlighted him being the hometown kid. I didn't like how the offense was ran and I thought they played much better in Orlando.
Wow, again a game where Jaycee is near the top in scoring and he gets nothing but hate from this board. What is it that bugs everyone about him shooting so much? Because you want him to be Steve Nash and dish out 12-15 assists a night? Do you know how many feeds he gave to Lopez and CDR tonight that were not finished at the rim? It's pretty sick how many times he sets up other players on this team and the favor is never returned. I think people here see Jaycee creating his own shot and that seems frustrating because they think he should be out there setting everyone else up? I thought he handled the ball real well tonight and ran the point better than anyone else. He will shoot on fast breaks because he is not your typical PG...he IS the best scoring option when he is on the court so until someone steps up and stops him he will go to the rim, he is very aggressive that way because he is 90%+ from the line. That is why we saw him get to the line so many times in Orlando. For the record, I remember him leading a 3-on-3 fast break tonight and having a great pass that lead to a dunk by Hodge I believe so he will give it up when the time is right. Another thing I noticed in this game was that Carroll is the only one who dribble drives and kicks it back out. When he was playing SG he sat there wide open on the arc for every possession over a 5 min. span while we watched Brook and CDR try to score down low or Anderson chuck up trash from another zip code. Not one kick out. As for Jaycee's shots in the last 5 minutes, one was a ball that he was saving from going out of bounds on the base line with about 1 sec. left on the shot clock and another was an inbound long 3 attempt with 2 sec. left in the game. Someone asked what would happen if Jaycee played in a more structured team or offense? I think you would see his true talent come out in that situation. Anyone who has watched Utah St. play knows how incredibly structured their offense is. There is no one-on-one play in their offense, it is a set play (half court offense) every time down the court and they use the entire shot clock if necessary to get the best possible shot. I would say that Summer League ball is set up for everything Carroll is not. It is a league for one-on-one players that use their raw athletic ability to beat their man and try to score. It is not structured, no one sets screens, there is seldom a called play and if there is it almost never gets executed. Jaycee could have dropped 40 in this game tonight with just a few screens, but instead he is left to create his own shot over and over. What I really would like to know is what were our other options tonight? Our 2-11, 3-11, or 4-11 from Lopez, Anderson, and CDR respectively? Other than Carroll and Hodge, there were no other answers. Brazelton came in and won this game for the Jazz and no one could cover him....not Jaycee, not CDR, no one, he was just in a zone for the last quarter.
Just watched the game. Sean Williams makes blocks look ridiculous. Ryan is underrated on the court. Brook tried too hard and Hodge is a perfect 15th man for us. He seems to appreciate the game more that he's been gone from it.
