RIP Sophia <div align="center"></div> Im not ashamed to say that Sophia is one of the funniest charachters in the history of the sitcom and I still watch The Golden Girls in syndication....
Death is a mature topic, not to be discussed with the immature that dont respect the fragile balance between life and death....
I wonder how many people knew she was in her late 50's-early 60's when she was playing that role. I didn't, and I found out later. She was very very good. RIP.

It became publically known later in the series that she was the 2nd youngest of the 4 actresses....she spent many hours in makeup to play that role and in a few episodes, she appeared without makeup in flashbacks of herself at a young age.... "Picture it, Sicily, 1914...."

RIP.</div> I read something earlier how she tried out for the part two earlier times and they said she looked too young for the part, and then came back a third time with all the makeup and got it.
Don't really know who this is but the name does ring a bell. Says she died of "advanced dementia" which sounds pretty terrible. RIP.

RIP Estelle Speaking of Golden Girls, one of my favorite things about the show was the role reversal for Betty White and Rue McClanahan. Betty was the vixen (Sue Ann Nivens) on the Mary Tyler Moore show and Rue was the ditzy best friend (Vivian Harmon) on Maude.
