Trade deadline's coming fast, and while I might be in the minority on this, I think this team needs serious help. Middle relief being the most obvious spot, but also shortstop and maybe another slugger to either offset Ortiz if his wrist isn't right, or to prepare for Manny's departure should management decide to cut ties with him this winter (I hope not). Anyway, Cristian Guzman signed an extension with Washington, so its unlikely we'll be able to get him. Also I'm reading that the Rockies want Clay Buchholz in a deal for Brian Fuentes. Insanity.
CK, Manny is one of the best hitters EVER. He's a headcase, but it's the truth. To trade for Tex would be foolish.
Trust me I love Manny but I'm saying what if we don't sign him to a deal and he ends up leaving next season for nothing. That and he's kind of lost, like here...
That's funny! There's nothing wrong with that. Plus we make the call on Manny for next season. Team option.

Appears that Arizona getting Jon Rauch for a cheap return should really drive down the asking price for Fuentes, Sherrill, Marte, etc.. That's good news for us.

The two clubs are indeed talking, though one source said Thursday that it was "a coin toss" as to whether the deal actually would occur. The trade would be Uribe for Cora, straight-up, with the teams splitting the difference in salaries — $4.5 million for Uribe, $2 million for Cora. The Red Sox's motivation is obvious — Uribe is a better defensive shortstop than Cora, not to mention better than Julio Lugo, who is on the disabled list with a strained left quadriceps.</div> I wouldn't be opposed to that. I'd actually rather that Uribe play short for us instead of Lugo. I hate Lugo. same article: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Trade talks are fluid and constantly evolving, and the Dodgers also are active on other fronts. Among their targets: Indians third baseman Casey Blake, who currently has a higher OPS than the Angels' Vladimir Guerrero, Red Sox's Dustin Pedroia and Mariners' Raul Ibanez. Third baseman Andy LaRoche, one of the Dodgers' possible trade chips, has started the last three games.</div> If Theo trades Dustin Pedroia, I will go on a killing spree. I'm serious. Trading him would be the most idiotic move by the Sox since trading Clemens prematurely.

Why not try and trade Lugo?
It might be possible if I go and give some other GM cocaine, then offer him a trade for Lugo. Other than that, it would be mighty difficult.
