    MLB fines Cubs $500,000
    Tuesday, July 22, 2008 08:05 PM

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Major League Baseball has fined the Chicago Cubs $500,000 for violations related to the 2008 draft, according to a report by SI.com on Tuesday.

MLB ruled that the Cubs failed to report a signing to league offices and put a player on the field before receiving approval for the signing, according to the report.

The Cubs apparently were not forthcoming regarding their actions when questioned by MLB officials, making the situation worse.

Teams are requires to report the bonuses handed out to drafted players before they are allowed to participate in any professional games.

I heard about this before. It's not about slotting.

This taints all the championships they've won in the last 100 years!
