So... we all know the incredible potential and skill set Yi possesses. However, his stats for the rookie season were not spectacular and I think most fans were slightly disappointed. What do you guys think will be Yi's peak and which player in the NBA right now will most likely serve as an example of where he is headed? In my opinion, I think Yi will peak as a: 15pt 7rb 2blk Player while playing 30-32 minutes a night as a solidified starter. I think in the next 5 years he will gradually creep up his stats and play a very similar game as compared to Vladimir Radmanovic of the Lakers right now. Those of you unfamiliar, Radmanovic runs the floor quite well and tends to hang around the perimeter setting picks and looking for long-range shots with very little post-up ability. Although we can argue that Yi may develop somewhat of a reliable post-up routine. This may be the most accurate player to be compared to at the moment. Radmanovic can also be streaky; As we have seen in Yi's rookie season, he can bounce in all directions with his production. On one night shooting 14-17 for 29pts while another night going 1-10. This is exactly the case in Radmanovic; a starter that plays mostly the first and third quarters and rarely any meaningful minutes in the fourth, unless he is needed for tight defense and the ability to annoy the opposing team. As for the future, and where he may peak at, I see Yi being a tier lower than the current Dirk Nowitzki. I truly don't think Yi has the mentality for an NBA superstar and certainly not an MVP. Those who think Yi will be the NEXT Dirk is heavily mistaken. Yi does not possess the drive to lead a team at this point in time and I doubt he will develop this natural-sense of leadership. Welcome to S2, AhLian! If you have any questions, PM me. I don't think that'd be bad at all for Yi. I hope he'd be able to get up there, that'd be about where Nenad was. And we were pretty damn good with him as our ONLY above average big man. Hell, all we had were underachieving bench players playing in the frontcourt alongside him.

16ppg/8rpg/3apg is what my honest expectations are... i mean he has already seen and played in the nba level... so he should know what it takes to do it for 82 games... remember last year with the bucks first 3 months of the season he avg 12ppg... then he just dropped... maybe fatigue? maybe frustration... but it dropped... hope with him being happy near a high population of chinese / asians... it can keep him focused to be the NJ NETS version of yao
i think Yi has all the moves and skills 2 average 20ppg, but idk if its gonna happen I think his max will be 18 maybe.

I think he MIGHT be able to average 8. In a couple of years, though. Next year I'm gonna guess 6rbs a game. That's not too bad considering his style of play doesn't allow him to go for offensive rebounds. 20pts a game is too much to expect out of him. Right now he doesn't have a superstar's mentality of taking over a game or any thought of dominating an opponent. He is merely doing his job, rather than attempting to get a raise.

It is nearly guaranteed that players out of the Guangdong Tigers (the China team Yi played for) shave off at least 2-3 years off of their true age. They did this for Chen Jianghua (a reserve PG for the CNT) as well yet he is still seen as a young, rising star.
