We all know that the Nets are targeting the 2010 Free Agency bonanza. Here is a list of potential Free Agents: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?p...reeAgents-09-10 Some of the Big Names: Lebron James Dwyane Wade Dirk Nowitzki Amare Stoudemire Chris Bosh Joe Johnson Yao Ming Tracy McGrady Steve Nash Shaquille O'Neil Jermaine O'Neil Manu Ginobili Carlos Boozer Ray Allen Zydrunas Ilgauskas Richard Jefferson Michael Redd Peja Stojakovic Tyson Chandler Vladimir Radmanovic Now some are franchise cornerstones, others complimentary star players or aging stars who could sign up for a cheaper price for one final run at a championship. So just to get an idea of how competitive the environment could be for the Nets in 2010 based on how the league and each team is currently structured (of course a lot could change in two years but lets see how things look now) everyone pick a team and see who could be active in 2010 and how attractive that team could look for free agents. I'll start with the Spurs. The Spurs are amazingly set up at the moment for the 2010 free agency as well as being contenders for the title the next two years. Most of their complimentary players are expiring by the 2010 free agency. They could have potentially around 30 million to spend on free agents if the cap is set at around 64 million. http://sportstwo.com/NBA/LeagueSalaries#jump_SAS Their two main franchise players, Parker and Duncan, are still signed for several more years. Those two guys will be the lure to draw in free agents to remold a championship core out of. What if they are able to get a guy like Bosh and then fill out the rest of their roster with complimentary players or aging stars who would sign for cheap for a chance at the title? Eventually Bosh could be the guy carrying the franchise after Duncan (don't get angry Raptor fans, I'm just using an example). So someone else pick a team from around the league and see if they are going to be players in 2010.
As long as my Wolves can grab one of those guys from the top, I will be happy..... What? What's wrong with high expectations for a crappy GM?
This thread would be a lot more useful if people ^ gave reason to why that team is set up well for to be major players in the 2010 free agency (how much cap space etc), rather than just saying something like 'it'll be cool if lebron joined kobe in 2010'.
One of two things will happen. This board will crash because the Nets signed LeBron James. Or, this board will crash because the Nets didn't sign LeBron James.
This was posted over a week ago and had both restricted and unrestricted broken donw by teams. It also had a by team listing of projected cap room available that off-season http://sportstwo.com/forums/Complete-2010-...nt-t119519.html

Hm: after looking at how much cap space all the teams will have in 2010, why does everyone say the nets, especially, are in a great position in the 2010 off season (other than JayZ-LeBron)? Can someone clarify that?

It should be really interesting. Franchise players usually stick with their teams because they can provide the most money, and I still do believe this will remain the case. But there's no ignoring the fact that a bunch of the '03 stars took shorter deals so they could cash in earlier. It makes it more difficult to understand their motivations.
