The way I see it, there are 7 important spots up for grabs in training camp and the preseason: Weakside LB, 2nd CB, both starting safety spots, 3rd WR, 2nd RB, and backup QB.

    <div align="center"><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%">Weakside Linebacker</span>
Options: Gerris Wilkerson, Danny Clark, Chase Blackburn

    <span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%">2nd Cornerback</span>
Options: Corey Webster, Sam Madison, Kevin Dockery, Terrell Thomas

    <span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%">Strong Safety</span>
    Options: Sammy Knight, Michael Johnson

    <span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%">Free Safety</span>
    Options: James Butler, Kenny Phillips

    <span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%">3rd Wide Reciever</span>
Options: Steve Smith, Sinorice Moss, Mario Manningham

    <span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%">2nd Running Back</span>
    Options: Derrick Ward, Ahmad Bradshaw

    <span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%">2nd Quarterback</span>
Options: David Carr, Andre Woodson, Anthony Wright</div>

WLB- I honesly don't know much about any of these players...but if I had to guess, I'd guess Wilkerson would be given every attempt to win the starting role.

2nd CB- Madison's experience may well keep him there. Webster has been disappointing (up to last season)....and even last year, I saw either good/bad with his play (though admittedly, I didn't watch him anywhere near the amount you probably did)

SS- Johnson. Knight is old, slow, and better suited to be a backup at this point.

FS- Butler. Though, I think you could see packages where Phillips and Butler are in the game.

3rd WR- Smith. Really liked him pre-draft; hated him when you guys drafted him, liked what I saw of him last year...

2nd RB- Bradshaw. If he stays out of trouble.

2nd QB- Carr, since he was signed as a free agent. But he really isn't that good. He looks lost everytime he's out there. You'll keep Woodson too, to develop him.

The guys I think are the favorites are in bold.

    Carr is almost a lock.

Even though I think Bradshaw is the second RB, Ward would take over as the starter if Jacobs gets injured (likely, considering his history).

Smith is close to a lock. Moss needs to show something right now or he is gone.

Phillips wouldn't have been drafted if he weren't an upgrade over Butler. I think Butler can play LB on passing downs.

Webster and Wilkinson would have to lose their jobs. They are the current starters. Madison is expensive and could be in some trouble.

I think the SS job is up for grabs, but I hope Johnson steps up. They'll both play regardless.

I just learned today that Wilkinson was put on the PUP list with another injury. I find him really frustrating, because I like his potential but it seems like anytime the Giants give him a shot he gets injured. I could see the team asking Danny Clark to play a role similar to Kawika Mitchell last season (sure tackler that just positions himself well on the field).

That's who Clark is replacing. It shouldn't be too much of a difference. Mitchell was asked to do very little and he was just solid, nothing special.

The PUP list is not a big deal, though. It's a dumping ground so more players can attend camp. You can move players off of it at any time. I think the Pats put like 15 guys on there.
