Did Paul Pierce AIRBALL a wide open layup against Russia yesterday? Oh no wait, that was Kobe!

If people believe that Kobe is better than Pierce for silly reasons like Kobe scoring 81 points, then Pierce is better than Kobe for not missing open layups. Also I thought it was funny that someone said that PP just signed his life over to Mamba. Unless one of the two players switches conferences these two will only be meeting twice a year. Unless they meet in the Finals again which will not happen.

Paul Pierce is a GREAT player, but he's not even close to Kobe's game. If there was a trade tomorrow, Paul Pierce for Kobe Bryant, the Celtics would be champions for the next 5 years.

Pierce is not the defender that Kobe is, and doesn't have the athleticism Kobe has either.

And to answer someone's question from earlier, James Posey, Sam Cassell, and Eddie Hourse all were on championship squads.

We gave the Celtics the championship this year, but I have got to believe, they won't have an answer for the Bynum, Pau, LO, Kobe lineup.

DFish disappointed me and probably will continue to disappoint me against Rondo. Going in to the finals, I believed Fish was going to have a field day on Rondo. Rondo walked all over him.

lol, where do you get that? That the Celts would get 5 rings afterwards. That means KG, Ray Allen and Kobe would get a ring when, Kobe will be past his prime at 34, KG is 37, Ray Allen is 38, however Kobe didn`t win a ring with Shaq, Malone and Payton.

Cassell wasn`t very important for the title run, and had missed something like 16 or like 20+ shots in a row during the playoffs. He is like 38 and was the 3rd string point guard seeing little time behind Rondo and House.

What championship squad was Eddie House on prior to this year?

I agree Bynum, Pau, LO, Kobe, is a very talented group, especially to have 3 really talented guys at 6'10, 7'0 and 7'1, I don't know any other team that has that. Add on Kobe, and Fisher/Farmar at point, and it is quite a team. Not to mention you have arguably the best coach in the history of the game in Phil Jackson.

My take on this thread is that people are seriously underestimating how good Pierce is and has been.

It isn't just a matter of who made playoffs with weak supporting casts. As long as the Lakers have had PJax, they've had the best coach in history and the Triangle Offense is perfectly suited to make subpar players win basketball games. It's been the offense of 9 championships in the past 16 years, a most impressive percentage. Meanwhile, Boston has had the suckiest of coaching and GM situations until last season.

Who won the MVP in the finals? That was a head-to-head match up, folks.

I saw Pierce basically playing PG, handling the ball at the top of the key, driving and dishing, and making very difficult shots. HE TOOK OVER and his team won. Can't say the same for Kobe; he simply did not make his teammates better in those games.

The only thing Paul Pierce is better than Kobe at is staying out of handcuffs.

Shapecity has commented on Phil's lack of emphasizing defense during practice. Pjax also had some awkward substitution patterns with our Forwards as well.

Pierce was guarded by inferior defenders, so including the fact that he is basing this claim off such a small body of work, I can understand why Laker fans are upset. Either way it isn't a big deal.

Did you guys watch the ESPYs?
When the Celtics were accepting the award for best team, Ray Allen said "Another win in LA."
DFish looked like he was ready to erupt, and you could hear boos from the nosebleeds.

I say w/e, let them enjoy it while it lasts. It's gonna be the last Celtics championship for many years.

It could be there last championship for a while, but they should have a good shot of repeating for the upcoming championship, and as the years go on obviously they shot will decline.

^but lol this is coming from the guy who claims Kobe would win a title 5 years from now with the Celtics cast when Kobe is 34, KG is 37, and Ray Allen is 38.
