<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Oxnard observation deck Day 1 of practice and here's the Oxnard observation deck where you need sunscreen and shades...Attendance was 3,800. Star of the day: Little Texas Tech wide receiver Danny Amendola...holy cow. During the 7-on-7 drills this guy beats cornerback Alan Ball and makes a diving grab on a deep pass by Richard Bartel. Amendola dives, gets up untouched and races toward the end zone. "Didn't surprise me," Wade Phillips said. "He seems to catch everything." Forget Pacman, he says: CB Anthony Henry, with Adam Jones breathing down his neck for playing time, came up big with an interception jumping in front of Patrick Crayton. Henry was then mobbed by Terence Newman for his efforts. Funny scene: Jerry Jones getting down in a three-point stance with the Los Lonely Boys before practice in a great photo opportunity. Stepping up: A guy like cornerback Quincy Butler needs to stand out with all the CB depth this team has. He did it Friday with an interception during team drills. Wiped out: Two members of the NFL Films crew were smacked on the sidelines in collision with CB Evan Oglesby. Yes, they are that close. Bad looks: CB Adam Jones wearing blue socks that didn't match his navy blue workout stuff. Henry was wearing something that looked like black hose. QB Brad Johnson not fitting in as usual in attire wearing game pants while everyone else wore shorts. At least they weren't sweats. Old Cowboys: Former offensive tackle Erik Williams was on the field helping out the coaches. Former scouting director Larry Lacewell was also at practice. You picking on me?: Even the Cowboys will pick on safety Roy Williams. First, tight end Tony Curtis made a nice reception as Tony Romo threaded the needle in the middle of the field. Williams made a diving attempt but Curtis made the catch and broke free. You picking on me again?: Moments later, Jason Witten beat Williams after tipping and making a catch on a ball that was behind him near the sidelines. It was very impressive. I'm voting Play of the Day 2. Still looks good: He did it in the mini-camp and OTAs and he's still doing it. Miles Austin looks very impressive. He just looks like he's in another gear. He also grabs attention when he doesn't make the catch. He missed a pass after diving horizontal to the ground during 7-on-7.</div> http://startelegramsports.typepad.com/cowboys/ Williams getting beat by Witten? Nah, you don't say..... Glad to see Miles continuing where he left on in training camp. This could be important for us this year, a breakout WR...
