Wouldn't call it a RELIABLE source, but I'm gonna say it has to be Lakers, Suns, or Mavericks.

I've heard about this, though I highly doubt it. If we trade for Smith, obviously the main player going out for us would be Lamar Odom, and that's not enough. Although I'm not exactly sure what the Mavs or Suns have to offer either, Josh Smith just seems too good to be true for me

Btw, next time you post an article, can you copy and paste it instead of only providing a link?

    Sure thing.

I would LOVE to have Josh Smith on our team, but I agree, LO just doesn't seem like enough.
The people on thelakersnation.com's shoutbox, they swear Luol Deng is a better fit on this team than Josh Smith, I couldn't believe that, a couple of swears went back and forth, but I defy anyone to agree with the people at the Shoutbox. We don't need offense at this point. We need better defense and toughness, and Josh Smith brings exactly that.

I love Josh Smith as a player, but I do agree that we can't get him without giving up LO. I actually want to see the LO, Pau, and Bynum rotation out there and see what they can do.

Dynasty, I'm saying I WOULD give up LO for Josh Smith, I just don't think LO is enough for Smith and Claxton, and if we give them any more, we would need another player or pay Smith a salary upwards of $16M/yr. He's not worth that much YET.

with the way these rumors are floating about (no concrete names of teams, lakers are quiet) im feeling optimistic that there is just this possibility this trade would happen. remember the gasol trade when none of us would even consider that, and it happened just like that LOL

if it happens though the lakers would be set for a championship and the FUTURE with a core of bynum, smith and farmar plus whatever we can get in trading gasol.

i hope this goes down, i like josh smith and he is a dynamic and electric player that we've never had and it would be exciting watching him play with kobe and bynum, i think odom would do it for the hawks cuz that would give them another athletic big man so yaaa, Lakers should do the deal

Someone on another site brought up a good point.

Since J-Smooth was a 17th pick, he will only get about $3.8M next year. He will be a little pissed off that he's still in Atlanta, but LO would ALSO be pissed off that he was traded.

What he failed to mention was, they would be getting NOTHING for Smith in the future as he becomes unrestricted, and it's not a lot of money off the books.

question is if the hwaks would do it.

imo I LOVE all this silence... this is exactly what brought us Pau Gasol.

anyone would... but gasol 'complinets' bynum's game with his finesse and passing game... id prefer not to trade gasol for smith if bynum was on the team.

That's because you are just flat out stupid to even consider that deal.

Gasol made the Lakers a championship contender, Josh Smith would not have that same impact. I love how you come into our forum and try to drop posts like you watched the team all season long. You probably watched only one full series of the Lakers (the Finals) and decided that is what they looked like all season long.

Anyone would? I sure as hell would not. Josh Smith might be a better individual athlete and a better talent, but Gasol is a proven top 7 Big man. His game is perfect to compliment Bynum's post game. And like you said, his passing abilities are incredible. You'd have to be stupid to make a Gasol for Josh Smith trade.

homie you should know by now that I don't pull statements out my ass. Everyone in the country saw enough of the lakers last season considering how much they're on T.V...don't come at me with "dream just watched the finals" b.s., cause it's far from the truth...I would trade Gasol for Smith in a heart beat. Your defense would automatically get better (and possibly rebounding also) and Smith is still incredibly young and talented with a lot of potential also..........although you might not agree with it, it's far from being "flat out stupid"

You like to live in the moment a lot though.

Personally I don't want to defend Gasol, but one could easily make a case for him. He has a more consistent body of work, although he played poorly in the playoffs this past season (not just one series, but he spiraled downward as the post-season went on), especially in the Finals.

Josh Smith for Pau Gasol is just ridiculous. C'mon Dream...

First of all, Gasol wasn't even playing his natural position ever since he came to Los Angeles. We forced him to play in the paint because we didn't have any starting caliber centers. Gasol's strength is his mid range game, which is something he hasn't been able to utilize yet in LA. With Bynum back, I fully expect to see another dimension to Gasol's game next season

Gasol didn't play his natural position in the Regular Season, but still performed better.

I'm not in love with a Josh Smith for Gasol trade or anything, just stating something.

Ok, maybe I should've clarified myself. A top big man, and a top 5-7 4.

Yao can't stay healthy enough to convince me to have him as a championship piece over Gasol. He's a great player, but he's feeble as shit.

I'll take Gasol over: Amare (Gasol owned him IIRC), Bosh, Jermaine (what a joke throwing him in there), Dirk, and West.

KG, Duncan, and Brand are the only 3 PF's that are clearly better than Gasol.

You just said Smith is the better athlete and better talent, so you'd have to put him in the list of 4's better than Gasol. [IMG]

Seriously, you'd take a soft 4 who isn't a great rebounder but has a good midrange game over Amare or Bosh.

He may be a good fit for the lakers but I not even sure he's even one of the top 10 4's in the league.
