<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Nintendo's classic Super Mario Bros has topped a new poll of the 20 'best games in history'. More than 2,000 respondents picked the game, which was released on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985. The survey, conducted by Onepoll, also saw other 'old-school' titles such as Donkey Kong and Sonic The Hedgehog perform well, along with modern-day releases Wii Sports and Guitar Hero. Onepoll spokesman John Sewell said: "This shows that classic games will live on forever in the hearts of computer game fans. "The gaming industry is getting more and more competitive, releasing more and more innovative games by the minute, but this survey proves that sometimes the most simple formats work well to keep game players hooked." Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto earlier announced that his team are developing a new Mario game. The top 20 in full: 1. Super Mario Bros 2. Pac-Man 3. Tetris 4. The Sims 5. Sonic The Hedgehog 6. Space Invaders 7. Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas 8. Donkey Kong 9. Mario Kart 64 10. Grand Theft Auto - Vice City 11. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider 12. Wii Sports 13. Final Fantasy 14. Gran Turismo 15. Lemmings 16. Frogger 17. Pokemon, Red, Blue And Green 18. Street Fighter II 19. Wii Play 20. Guitar Hero</div> I'd have to say i agree with this. No GTA IV in there though
I think Tetris was way more popular world wide....and the original Final Fantasy might be the best....
Vice City at #10? Sorry, that's not a top 20 game of all time. They should just put the entire GTA series at #5 or something. The Sims should be above Tetris. Where's the Super Smash Bros. series?
It'd be at the top of my list (or, atleast near the top, I'd have to think about it more). And WiiPlay...really? That always seemed just like more of a collection of "look what you can do with motion controls!" then a game, especially for a top 20 game ever type thing. I just got it because I wanted another remote and figured that I might as well get a game for the same price.
Goldeneye 007, ftw. I still have that game in my bedroom somewhere. Never getting rid of it. Classic.
Game was epic. I remember running around the temple with a PP7 while my cousins (3 on 1) all had the Golden PP7, and killing all of them. That was a good day in England (besides getting hit in the balls with a cricket ball. That hurt). I still need to beat all of the levels on the hardest difficulty. I want that extra mode, and I'll cheat if I have to!

Worst list ever. No Legend of Zelda games, the wrong Sonic the Hedgehog games (the 2nd was way better), and...yea. Just an awful list. How the hell can games like Wii Sports and Wii Play be on that...
Super Mario Bros for NES was a classic, but I'd put Super Mario #3 above the original. Super Mario 64 was pretty kick ass too. As well the Zeldas for 64 are amazing. Super Smash Bros series, has to get on the board. The list is pretty good but needs some additions. I think Final Fantasy should be replaced by Final Fantasy 7, that game was huge. They do like to give originals props and for the fact well they brought something new, but I think Mario #3 was definitely better than #1.

I would have also expected more N64 games to be on there. Besides, how can you make a list like this and only ask 2000 people? I'm surprised these fools didn't put Nintendogs on the list, lol.
In the video game industry many of these "classic" games age quite poorly. Of course there are exceptions, but I would rather read a discussion about the best games over the last 12 or so years (FFVII era and after). I don't play video games as much anymore, but if I did I wouldn't dig up my older systems.

If anyone is thinking about pulling out the old systems and playing games you remember as being fantastic, I do not suggest it....when it comes to video games, you can not go home again....disappointment awaits you....a few years back, im in a wal mart and they have a NES hooked up with Excitebike in....Excitebike was one of my favorites of all time....the memories flood back as I pick up the controller, but it doesnt take long to realize how basic and disappointing the game is....dont try it, just keep the memories....
As long as it's got Pokemon im happy...but seriously Tomb Raider? Maybe i missed that era but IMO even Call of Duty is better than that
