QUOTE

One of the biggest names bandied about as Thursday's trade deadline approaches has found a new home.

Sources close to the situation told ESPN.com's Jayson Stark on Tuesday that Atlanta Braves first baseman Mark Teixeira is headed to the Los Angeles Angels for Casey Kotchman and minor league pitcher Steven Marek.

Kotchman was pulled off the field during pregame warmups at Fenway Park on Tuesday afternoon, further fueling speculation that a deal was in place.

And that is a pitcher rap on your 2008 American League ladies and gentleman, thanks to everyone for playing and be sure to come back next year.

To my untrained eye, it appears that the Braves got less than they paid for Teixeira

true they should of asked for Rivera, Santana or even Saunders. But eh, Kotchman is a solid 1B

At this point, unless he helps you win the World Series, getting Teixiera is a mistake b/c he's going to be a free agent and has Boras as his agent. The Braves did well getting Kotchman back for him.

I think the Angels will get him signed.

I'm surprised the Braves didn't get at least one moderately well-known starting pitching prospect back. Their rotation is in pieces right now, and I don't think that will change anytime soon. Absolute steal for the Angels.

Wow, seems like a nice move.

Mamba must be pinching himself over the Angels' season so far.

Yeah Angels and Yankees are the two best teams in the AL right now. Sox might be done if they don't make a move (for the better).

If you told me that in the beginning of the year, I'd have laughed my ass off. I'd have laughed harder if you told me the Yankee bullpen would be the best in the bigs. It's funny, 2/3 of our rookie starting pitchers haven't produced, we're missing Wang, our Left fielders have been injured, A-Rod was out for 22 days, and we're still in contention. At the beginning of the season, I wasn't sure if we could contend with a fully healthy club.

Shows how great Eiland and Joe have been this season.

I'm still waiting for the Rays to acquire Jason Bay.

Yankees always come back. If you stripped the Yankees of Abreu, Jeter, and Rivera they'd still contend because Brett Gardner, Alberto Gonzalez, and Edwar Ramirez would automatically turn into superstars bang bang bang. As a Sox fan it gets tiring after a while. [IMG]

They did, but, Saltalamacchia who was part of the Teixeira to ATL deal is being shopped by the Rangers.

I'm surprised it wasn't the Dbacks who were thought to be the frontrunners; LAA is loaded now.

I heard Teixeira talk about wanting to play for the hometown Orioles... he's from Annapolis. However, The Angels aren't afraid to pay for quality and Angelos is (I'm putting it nicely) a cheapskate.

I would have laughed had ATL fleeced the Yankees for Teixeira then have him sign w/ Baltimore in the off season.

The Braves suck this year. I don't see things get better, and it is quite disappointing.

Oh, and Texiera wasn't anything special this season. I see nothing wrong with trading him, and not surprised they didn't get much.

    Hell yes.

I'll miss Kotch, but I think this deal could put us over the edge. I think by far we are the class of the AL. We've beaten Boston 7 out of 8 times and are going for a second consecutive sweep tomorrow. I know they got us in October, but I think this year is different.

I don't know that suck is the right word. Injury plagued has been par for the course the last 3 seasons.

It seems the only time the Braves have been good is when Escobar has been in the lineup and hitting ahead of Chipper.

Hell yeah, Esco, Chipper, and McCann have been nasty for the Braves. That's about it.
