and AI will always have his MVP when the 76ers didn't win it all. lol.

Anyway, back to the topic. So should the Rockets try to move Battier?

They have 3 starting quality SG/SFs in Tmac, Artest, and Battier. Or do they give Tmac 35, Artest 35, and Battier the remainin 26 minutes?

    Durvasa's quote.

"Battier is like the quarter back of a defense. Great team and help defender. Always prepared and follows the game plan to a tee. But he can be outmatched physically at time in one-on-one matchups. Artest is possibly the best man defender in the league when he's right. So, in a way, they can actually complement eachother on that end."

The Rockets will have the best perimeter D and will be the best defensive team in the league.

    A lineup of

    Alston
    T-Mac
    Battier
    Artest
    Mutombo/Hayes

    Don't drive.

AI isn't as accomplished individually as Kobe. For someone with his resume, it is more important for him in the end.

Dont drive but also dont guard, Chuck Hayes that is. Chuck should've been cut last year but Adelman gave him an opportunity. Unfortunatley with Laundry outplaying him last year, it's time Chuck go play elsewhere. I know he's a fan favorite for some of ya'll but the guy's lack of offense is a serious problem.

    Skip
    Tmac
    Artest
    Scola
    Yao

I don't want Artest coming off the bench. He'll probably be much suited with our starting line up. With him on the floor he'll give Yao better looks.

He is a fan favorite with some, but more importantly he's been a Rockets favorite. Our front office and coaches love what Chuck Hayes provides defensively. And that's why he won't simply be cut from the team, particularly when (1) it's not definite Landry will return, (2) Yao is still susceptible to injuries, and (3) Dorsey is an unproven rookie. If everyone returns as expected, Chuck likely won't get regular minutes, however. On the other hand, the Rockets apparently value him more than most other teams ... so they aren't going to trade him for junk either.

That looks like the most likely lineup. Another possibility is we keep Battier at SF and make Artest the 6th man, or (less likely) Battier and Artest are the starting forwards and Scola becomes the 6th man.

I'm not sure Artest will ever be intelligent enough to understand what he is. For the past few years he's always wanted more shots. He doesn't understand that McGrady is and always will be a much better offensive player, and the offense will STILL run through Yao since he's a legitimate big man. He absolutely can't and wont be anywhere close to a primary option on offense.

If Artest had enough brains to embrace a Manu Ginobili 6th man type role, Houston could become very dangerous. As a part of the 2nd unit, he would get all the shots he wanted while energizing them on defense.

Also, don't forget that neither Artest nor Battier can guard quick guards. Playing them both sounds great on paper - two elite perimeter defenders, but in practice it shouldn't work because they'll get scorched off the dribble.

What do you consider Kobe, if he's not a "quick guard"?

I think Battier can do just fine guarding quick guards, and bigger players. From what I've seen, he's a good all-around defender.
