Does the Artest Deal Put Any Pressure on Us to Make a Move?

What do you think? I think Houston is definitely up there with us, the Hornets, and the Spurs. Will Mitch feel more pressure to pull off another trade, like maybe Lamar for a more traditional small forward? Or maybe add a couple more defensive minded players (not sure how that's possible, trade?)

I think it does, because you guys were supposed to get either him or Posey. You still have a great team, but need some help if you're going to make another run for the championship. Sasha, Vlad and Walton will not cut it.

I think if Bynum is healthy, we can win the championship. I was just partial to getting Odom's ass out of here.

I want to count on Bynum too, but I'd feel better if we got Odom out of here as well.

I thought you were an Odom supporter, I changed you : ].

Mitch says Bynum should be 100% by training camp!

How do you guys think a 7'0, 7'0, and 6'10 trio will do defensively? I'm pretty sure it'll make things A LOT tougher for teams to score, but I'm not sure if Lamar can keep up with other SFs

Also, Bynum's already working out. I think he's in Atlanta or something with his trainer.

Well that, the ass whooping in Game 6, and the Finals in general.

    I have to disagree.
It is a good deal in the sense that they got an excellent player with an expiring contract for nothing (business wise)
BUT, IDK how they are going to incorporate Battier, TMac, and Artest, all 3 natural SFs, at the same time.

Still FAR from serious contender status. I'm going to say a 4th or 5th seed.

I actually like the matchup with the lakers when both teams are healthy....Kobe is the best player on either team hands down, but we can keep him in check with Ron and Battier. Yao > Bynum, and outside of Kobe the lakers don't have a really good perimeter defender (unless u count ariza but he's not going to be on the floor at the end of games)......I think Scola, Landry, Dorsey and Hayes will bang up on the finesse Gasol........I can't wait for next season, for the first time in years I actually have faith in the rockets......................

sorry but faith in what? maybe contending for a title? yes, top 4 seed in playoffs? yes maybe, but imo they wont go all the way. even i am not too sure about the lakers. there are just too many teams in the west that could win it all... the question is if the team that emerges out of the west still have the energy to win the ring against the eastern champs? the competition in the west alone would give the western contenders headaches.

the rockets are now a good team but imo they are like glass... 1 injury and its game over, theyre also a pretty 'old' team when you compare them to the hornets and blazers. they might get banged up deep in the playoffs.

i just hope tmac finally gets out of the 1st rd.

I never said the Rockets were better than us, just said maybe we should make another move because they got a lot better, and we didn't.

"I think Scola, Landry, Dorsey and Hayes will bang up on the finesse Gasol"

Um, no they won't. For some reason Gasol gets this reputation that he's super pussy or something, when actually it's not true. I didn't see Boozer or Duncan banging up Gasol in the playoffs. Granted Gasol's defense isn't great, he isn't a pushover like you make him out to be either.

im a huge fan of tmac but i dont know why he 'looks' old when he plays (back spasms and all) while kobe is a year older and looks way younger and 'fresher'. hope tmac does well this year though

Because Kobe keeps himself in top shape physically during the off-season. He's the hardest working player in the league.

Tmac's back injuries have taken a toll on him, I think. He's still young, but his age will catch up to him a lot quicker than it should.

I DO agree w/ Yao is a better player than Bynum, but I think Bynum is gonna walk all over Yao IMO.

The best way to explain this is the way Bynum walked all over Stoudemire on Xmas Day. Yao is no longer a pussy, IMO, but he's just not strong or tough enough to give Bynum problems.

And although Battier and Artest are EXCELLENT defenders, they still can't stop Kobe. A great offensive player will always beat out a great defensive player. The Lakers have EVERYTHING going for them next year (except maybe that toughness factor) so Houston will NOT be too effective against us. I still like NO and SA over Houston, even w/ Artest.

Bynum gave Amare problems, but Amare is 6'10, and never has been known as a defensive player.

Yao is 7'6 and has the length and is just physically bigger to stand his ground against Bynum. Bynum is great, but I'd give the edge to Yao.
