This is a one year rental, no doubt in my mind. I just pray Posada's arm holds up. It's amazing how one of this summer's extensions turns out great, while one turns out terrible. I'm undecided on Cano's.
He signed a 28/4 deal, with 2 TOs through two arbitration years, IIRC. He was playing at the minimum for those 4 years, but they might save big over those arbitration years.
How good is Pudge behind the plate? I think he's good at blocking wild balls but can he throw guys out like Molina?
Well, the thing with Pudge is that base runners remember him from when he was in his prime, as one of the best catchers ever. Talent alone, Molina is better, and definitely calls a better game, frames pitches, gets out of the crouch, and throws better than Pudge, but his hitting is no where near Rodriguez's.
Typical Yankees move to acquire an aging, over the hill player in the twilight of his career. I mean for the situation its a good move for them, but instead of spending all their money on older guys why not spend that same money on younger players.
Well, statistically, Kyle was our worst key reliever. I think Edwar, Robertson, or Veras can do it. However, why people are calling this a steal for the Yanks is still beyond by grasp.
I just realized how many old catchers are over the hill. Because of this, Pudge is type A! http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/al...-complete_N.htm Elias uses a 2 season system, but we should be good. We traded Farnsy for 2 picks! Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Pudge. And don't you dare accept arbitration. We also have Moose, Pettitte, and Abreu coming up as type A. This could be a very nice summer. (Though I hope we bring back Moose)
I think this is a very good move for the Yankees. Although Molina is better behind the plate, his bat is a complete waste. Pudge give veteran experience and he is a .300 hitter. Also this will move Melky to the 9th spot in the lineup where he belongs.
