Half those guys show up to eat pineapple cocktails at the Wai Kiki and have no interest in playing the game.... the last 4 games of the season, he averaged 3 less carries a game than the rest of the season, yet he averaged 83 less yards per game....so a 3 carry dropoff translates into 83 yards less per game?? Meanwhile, over the same span, Chester Taylor nearly doubled APs yardage total and he did it on half as many carries....so Im not buying that the lack of a passing game made it impossible to run the football, cleary Taylor was still producing at a high level....He hit the wall, plain and simple....</div> So are you saying that having the line stacked with 8-9 defensive linemen doesn't effect your yardage? Have you ever played football? It's ahrd enough finding holes in a defensive front without the whole secondary playing in to fill the gaps...seriously...how can you not see this? </div> no, not what im saying, but thank you for the words....Im saying that the OTHER RB, Chester Taylor, did not see a drop off in yards over the same games....so if the fronts were 8-9 man fronts, as is being alledged, then why did one back continue to perform a high level while they other fell off considerably???? Taylor had nearly 2x the yards, on nearly half the carries....if he did that against 8-9 man fronts, then hes the best RB in the league.... </div> the teams played 8-9 man fronts to stop Peterson, when taylor was in teams usually switched back to a 3-4 or a nickle. Taylor doesn't have the dynamic break away ability that Peterson has, so there was no reason to stack the line.
Heres the issue Im having with this: 2 Vikings fans, one is saying that AP only started 9 games because of how good Taylor is, the other is saying that Taylor is not good enough to make teams bring a safety up....it doesnt add up....whether you are smart enough to realize it or not, AP hit the rookie wall, Taylor out performed him by a huge ammount the last quarter of the season, teams didnt change their approach much when one replaced the other, and they had similar YPC stats....AP is not Jesus, he dont walk on water, and his violent style does not lend itself to a long productive career....hes not even close to the best RB in the league, he had 2 great games, 4 good games, 4 average games, and 4 downright shitty games....and in half the games he struggled, Taylor was really good....the best player at a position, usually performs well in more than 6 games in a season....
