So earlier this summer, I was accepted to a High School Journalism Program at the Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg (they own the St. Pete Times). I learned a shit load, got to meet tons of writers and higher ups for the paper, and networked my ass off. Well it paid off because the St. Pete Times is putting together a new paper that appeals to younger readers (think high school and college) and after reading some of my articles and meeting with me, they want me to run the sports section and be on the board of editors. I had a meeting with the editor of the paper yesterday and we're looking to put out our first publication in October. They said they can get me credentials to any sport I want, get me into movie premieres, and also get me CD's or video games for reviews before they come out because I'll be writing for those sections too and they'll use the weight of the St. Pete Times so that we're treated like a legit paper. I'm so pumped and I'm getting a shitload of experience. I wanted to thank all of you, especially shapecity, Moo2k4, Schaddy, and everyone else who was a big part of the Writing Team over at JBB. You guys helped me improved by taking me under your wing and prior writing for JBB, I had no idea what I wanted to be when I was older but now I'm positive that journalism is my calling. So thanks guys and I'll make you all proud! There's a section where we can recommend websites and stuff so I'll give SportsTwo a shoutout sometime. We're also going to be having an extensive website that will have all of the paper's articles and then some so I'll give you guys the link to check out when it's up and running.
Wow, congratulations. That's a hell of an opportunity. Hope you make the most of it - and if you have a website, be sure to link it up here so we can check it out.
Damn, I was hoping that you saved some money on your car insurance by switching to Geico. Seriously though, that really is awesome. Congrats.
Congratulations man and remember to work hard and at the same time have fun. Make sure you rep your home aka S2. lol
Swish is awesome Congratulations bro! I've been posting with you for a long time, and you're a great writer. I'm sure you will find loads of success in the future. Probably publish a book about Dwight Howard or something a couple of years from now, when teams will be triple teaming him just to contain him Just don't forget about ME
I'll be a senior in High School this year but yeah, I hope to go to USF or UCF. Thanks guys. And Brian, you'll always have a special place in my heart. And Legacy, RealGM helped me because I started writing on a regular basis but no, they didn't see RealGM and think WOW. If I had said any site, it wouldn't have mattered. They just liked the sample articles I provided and liked that I've had experience interviewing professional athletes.
Cool. I remember when 10% of your posts contained a complete sentence. If somebody told me back then that you'd be writing professionally, I would have sold them some more crack. Congrats and good luck.

Congrats Swish! I'm friends with Moo and Shape, so I'll take partial credit....I expect my cookies soon. (I'm obviously kidding about the cookies)
