Actually, if I remember correctly the Nuggets first became a contender back when Karl first started with the team, back when they didn't have players like AI and JR Smith and adopted a defense-first mentality. If anything, the Nuggets team seems to be just another all-flash no substance team. I highly doubt any coach, be him George Karl or someone else, would be able to convince Melo and AI to adopt defense-first mentalities, hence making the Nuggets true contenders. But that's not even what I was talking about?? I'm sure you agree that Melo alone would not be enough to take us over the top and would therefore be a useless aquisition especially with 2010 looming. </div> 1) I did watch the Nuggets before Karl was the coach 2) You can't compare Melo then with Melo now 3) The Nuggets have never been a contender since Melo has been there. 4) There was never a defense-first mentality under Karl. The moment he got there, he upped the tempo and made defense an after thought 5) Yes, AI is hopeless, but this is about Melo. He does fine on defense when he decides to play it. Under Karl, there is no incentive for him to play it most of the time. 6) Melo wouldn't be a useless acquisition for the Nets. Other than LBJ, he would be the best player the Nets could get. Besides, he and LBJ are buddies and having Melo and Jay Z would be to the benefit of convincing LBJ to play for the Nets.

If we got Melo, would we move LBJ to power forward?? How could they play together?

Melo and LeBron are completely different players with completely different roles on a team. The fact that they are both in the "SF" portion of your All-Star ballot doesn't have much to do with how they would interact on the court.
