Yeah, I don't see Evans being able to win this fight. Chuck Liddell has the best take down defense in MMA probably, and not many can stand and trade shots with him. I thought it was kind of a blessing for Rashad that he didn't have to fight him the first time.

Giddy up!! stacked cards always sound good to me wonder who they'll throw in there? Shogun if he's healthy, BJ Penn? Forrest since he's from GA? Anderson Silva vs Okami.. I'd imagine Silva would headline a PPV, maybe 89.
They have been trying to stack up a few cards, since the Liddell/Silva and GSP/Hughes fight. The Hughes/Serra card had some pretty big names fighting on it, UFC 84 Ill Will had some huge names on it. UFC 87 is going to have GSP/Fitch, Huerta/ Floridan, and Brock Lesnar fighting on it. I guess they want to make sure that the fans continue to know that the UFC has the most talented fighters in the world.

here's a fight that should be on the main card. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Karo Parisyan restarts title hunt in September by John Morgan on Jun 21, 2008 at 11:30 am ET After suffering a disappointing, albeit perhaps controversial, loss to Thiago Alves at UFC Fight Night 13 in April, perennial welterweight contender Karo Parisyan (18-5 MMA, 9-3 UFC) feels primed to once again work his way back to title contention. Parisyan had been tentatively scheduled to face "The Ultimate Fighter 6" semifinalist George Sotiropoulos at UFC 87. However, Sotiropoulos was forced to withdraw due to injury. Now, Parisyan confirmed with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that he is close to signing a bout agreement to face Yoshiyuki Yoshida (10-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at UFC 88 on Sept. 6. Despite the loss to Alves, the 25-year-old Parisyan still considers himself among the welterweight division's elite competitors. "Chuck (Liddell) lost two fights in a row, but he was still considered one of the best light heavyweights in the world," Parisyan said. "Wanderlei (Silva) got knocked out twice and lost his third fight to Chuck, but he was still considered as one of the toughest 205-pounders in the world. And I still consider myself in the top five in the world." Parisyan still contends, as he did in the octagon immediately after the bout, that the fight with Alves was brought to an end far too quickly. "(Do I) accept the decision that I got [expletive] in my ass with no lube?" Karo asked. "Yeah, I can accept that. Other than that, (have I) accepted the loss? I have no other choice but to accept the loss because of what happened to me. "But as far as it [being] an early stoppage? Yes, I still think it was an early stoppage. Because Matt Serra punched me, almost took my lights out, and he was still hitting me, and they didn't stop that fight. Then they stop a fight where I get dropped and rocked and I eat three punches on my shoulder and one to the neck, and they stop the fight. To seal the deal, they should've let the guy throw two to three more punches on my face solid before they stopped the fight." The loss was especially disappointing to Parisyan because it knocked him out of immediate contention for the welterweight title. Parisyan said he was ill-prepared for the fight and hopes for an opportunity to avenge the loss at some point. "No disrespect to Thiago or his camp," Parisyan said. "I have tremendous respect for all of them. But three years ago, if I would have looked at Thiago as an opponent, I would have laughed. 'Come one, man. Give me some real competition.' But today with me, just because of lack of training, and a lack of motivation for several reasons in my life, Thiago became a challenge. And unexpectedly, I lost the fight. I still can't believe it. "At the same time I will tell Thiago, God willing, eventually I'll meet you one more day in your career, and it will be disturbing to watch what I do to you." Parisyan said the loss was unexpected for him, and the lessons learned in defeat will fuel his ascent to title contention again. "At this point, I'm trying to change a lot of stuff in my life as far as training," Parisyan said. "I think it's a message from God saying I'm not ready for this title shot. 'Get your act right.' ... I think it just woke me up once and for all pretty good." Beyond a newfound motivation, Parisyan has also made the decision to train with UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre at Greg Jackson's camp in Albuquerque, N.M. Parisyan will have a vested interest in his new training partner's UFC 87 title clash with Jon Fitch -- a fighter whom Parisyan has been accused of avoiding in the octagon. "Fitch is always in great shape," Parisyan said. "He's always got good conditioning. His hands aren't that bad. He's submitted almost every guy he's fought. But everything that Jon Fitch does, I think Georges does a little better. And that's why I think St. Pierre will win. "And if [St. Pierre] doesn't win, then God would I like to work my way up take the title fight with [Fitch] and shut all those guys up for once and for all. I mean, not that they're talking [expletive], but I've heard people saying in his camp, not Fitch, 'Oh, Karo's dodging Fitch.' I'm like 'Give me a [expletive] break. Dude, who the hell is Fitch?'" Parisyan has run into many obstacles on his journey to the welterweight title. Three times he as been on the verge of a title shot, only to be turned away due to injury or defeat. Now as he prepares to start the process again, Parisyan has a message for his supporters. "Don't give up on me yet. Just sit back and say, 'OK, I'm going to give Karo another try and see what he can do.'"</div> typical Karo.. as arrogant as ever.. the sport is starting to pass him by and he's not doing much to change it.

He's been overhyped by Elite XC and his last fight vs James Thompson showed how far he has to go as an MMA fighter. He's a promotional meal ticket for Elite XC and if he doesn't improve soon, his facade will be exposed and he'll be DUN. That said he is training in ernest and is training with a very good training in Bas Reuten.
The latest has Dan Henderson fighting my boy Toquinho at this event, meaning the Henderson/Franklin fight might not be happening anytime soon. Another fight for this card is James "Why am I in the UFC" Lee vs. Tim "The Barbarian" Boetsch. http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templa...64&zoneid=2
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>It appears that Dan Henderson’s return to the middleweight division wasn’t a one-time deal to challenge UFC champion Anderson Silva. MMAWeekly.com has confirmed with sources close to the camp of Brazilian Top Team fighter Rousimar Palhares that he has signed to fight Henderson in a 185-pound divisional bout at UFC 88 on Sept. 6 in Atlanta. Henderson has stated several times in the past that he prefers to fight at light heavyweight, but the bout with Palhares will keep him in the middleweight division, at least for the time being. Henderson lost his last two bouts, both title fights. He was defeated by Silva at UFC 82 in Columbus earlier this year and lost in a light heavyweight title bout to Quinton Jackson in September of last year. Prior to those two defeats, Henderson had won two in a row – over Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfort – and held both the middleweight and light heavyweight PRIDE championship belts simultaneously. One of the fastest rising talents of the Brazilian Top Team, Rousimar Palhares made his octagon debut last month against Ivan Salaverry at UFC 84. Improving his record to 8-1 as a professional, Palhares also earned Submission of the Night honors and a $75,000 bonus check for his slick submission of Salaverry via armbar. Palhares has finished six of his eight victories by submission, including both Daniel Acacio and Fabio Negao in one night to win the Fury FC middleweight title. He is widely regarded as one of the most dynamic submission specialists to recently emerge from Brazil. UFC 88 will take place on Sept. 6 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta. The main event features former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell in a battle with undefeated Ultimate Fighter Season 2 winner Rashad Evans. Update: FiveOuncesofPain.com contacted a high-ranking source within Team Quest Temecula who indicated that Henderson’s next fight has not yet been scheduled.
Rich Franklin vs. Matt Hamill is likely for this event. Huge tilt for Rich as his 205-lbs career gets going again.
Anderson Silva to be on the card, as well? <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>“Anderson Silva, being the monster that he is, you all know is going to move up to 205 on July 19. He's going to fight at 205. If everything goes well, he wants to move back to 185 and fight Sept. 6 in Atlanta, probably against Yushin Okami, then he wants to fight again two months later,” he continued. That’s not where the blueprint ends. White later spoke to MMAWeekly.com, saying that not only are Silva’s next couple of middleweight fights lined out, but he also has White’s confidence in making a go at both retaining the middleweight belt and hunting down light heavyweight gold. “When I talk about real fighter, this is the kind of guy I'm talking about. This guy sat down in a meeting with us, literally, two months ago and said you're not fighting me enough, I want to fight more,” explained White. “And he wants to keep proving himself. He's one of these guys that said my window is this big and I want to get everything in before this window closes. “He wants to fight (July) 19. He wants to fight again Sept. 6, back down to 185 (pounds); he wants to defend his title, then again two months later. Anderson Silva might fight three or four more times this year. He might fight three or four more times this year and it's almost August!”</div> Silva to Fight in Atlanta Chuck, Ace, Hendo, and Silva all on the same card?
I heard they were going to make this card a big one a while ago but we'll see what happens. The Montreal card was supposed to be great but got trimmed down to an average one at best.
true, I could see one of the big fights being moved if a main event fighter gets injured for a near future card after UFC 88. Hopefully though it stays stacked. With More and more talent rising I find just about every card stacked with at least 2-4 fights I want to see.
