I think the Lakers should stand put where they are, but you know someone's gonna start this kinda thread, so I'm just here to make it less annoying. Sources are saying the Jazz are REALLY dangling Kirilenko in the trade market in order to have the funds necessary to extend Boozer next year. We COULD trade LO and Ariza to Utah for Kirilenko and Brewer. Why the Jazz would do this? To free cap space. Why wouldn't they? They are getting rid of one of their future star players. Why would the Lakers do this? Kirilenko brings in a better defensive presence and may be a better fit in the frontcourt with LO and Bynum. Why wouldn't they? Why change something that works. Lakers are already favorites to take it all next year, why would we trade? Also, we need the $ off from LO next year to extend Bynum (which would make us a weaker team, but would give us assurance that we keep our future superstar). It's not happening. Please don't bring it up anyone.
if this were any other coach besides jerry sloan I might see how this could possibly work.........but I doubt Jerry wants to put up with the inconsistency of Odom...................

I don't know if we should go through all this trouble, especially since Odom might get better looks playing alongside Bynum and give us some cap relief if we do absolutely nothing. I would like to see Odom moved though, I just don't know about this trade, or if this specific deal is even on the table.
We need to get tougher, not softer. Kirilenko is a pussy, not to mention Odom is the better player. No thanks.

Brewer probably has a bigger impact offensively, but defensively, Ariza gets the edge. My only probably with Ariza is that he has trouble staying healthy, but when healthy, Ariza a better fit for us. Also, just putting this out there, Ariza is actually three months younger than Brewer
Why in the world would Utah do this? Brewer is much better than Ariza IMO and still has loads of potential. Brewer compliments Boozer & Deron Williams, not to mention they're good friends. Kirilenko isn't really a pussy on the court, just bitches and whines off the court. Kirilenko is probably the scrappiest player on Utah besides Harpring. Odom wouldn't fit all that well with Utah IMO and it would be pointless for Utah to trade all their shotblocking for another offensive minded player. AK is also a much better playmaker than Odom, which makes AK's skills a much better asset than Odom would be.

He disappointed me in the Finals but overall he was extremely productive playing with a PF like Gasol. Further AK has an ugly ass contract, although your comments about Brewer are noted. Hypothetically, would the Lakers even have enough money to re-sign Bynum, Kobe, and Brewer with AK's contract? That's why it seems like an issue.
Well Odom definitely outplayed Kirilenko in the playoffs... Phil commented after the Finals that he wanted the team to get tougher. Having someone who cries because of their lack of minutes isn't tough. Not to mention Kirilenko is really overpayed as well And like I mentioned, Ariza is actually younger than Brewer, and better defensively

If Utah would do this deal, the Lakers should be all over it. Kirilenko would do a better job in the Lakers scheme than Odom, and he is a good defensive player. Utah would be losing out on the rest of the deal in a big way.

Now I don't know how healthy he'll be but that's another subject.

That including the other issues I said are problems.
AK47 was complaining about lack of scoring opportunities in Utah's offense. I don't think he'll enjoy being the 4th option on the Lakers. I also think Kirilenko became a less effective player once the Jazz moved him to SF. He lost all the advantages he had playing the PF position and using his quickness and agility to blow by defenders. I'd rather get Harpring or Millsap in a deal with Utah because they bring toughness to the court and cost a fraction of what AK47 is making.
