Yi with a clutch shot with a foot on the 3pt line to seal the win for China. He defended Dirk Nowitzki (24 pts 7/20 shooting) for most of the game.
Yi looked a little fired up. He and Yao celebrated with a chest bump at mid court after his clutch shot.

Yi also shot a 3 pointer in the first quarter and had 2 steals 1 block.

He hit the biggest shot in the history of Chinese basketball under enormous pressure. He had the shot and he took it and made it.

He was aggressive on the defensive end. I thought he was a defensive liability. He proved tonight he can be a defensive asset. There is so much potential there...more than Lopez, a lot more than Williams or Anderson.

You can watch the entire game. Link to rewind is on NetsDaily.

Yi vs Dirk today in Olympics> Sean vs Beasley in SL

I have nothing against Sean, but he had a huge thread, and Yi doesn't get anything?
Where is the thread on this?

Yi had 9points 11boards playing 35mins against Germany, limited Nowitzki to 7/20 shooting and 7 TOs, and made the game winner to help China advance from group play.

    great performance i think...

It's an asset to have an athletic 7 footer that can hit outside shots. He can improve on his dribbling and rebounding. The potential is there.

    Dirk's slow, white, and old.

    Right? :)

Dirk had a crazy stat line and definitely out played Yi. However, Yi got the win and that's what counts.

Dirk missed the 3 to tie the game and Yi hit his shot to seal the game.

    Very close game.

All the Bucks fans were silent.. I loved it.

After careful observation, I've determined that Dirk is not that slow, not that old, but definitely white. :D

Dirk did not outplay Yi. Dirk was supposed to dominate Yi. He is the centerpiece of the German team. On Team China, Yi is a role player and his job was to slow Dirk and rebound. Dirk shot 7 for 20 and in the key moments of the game--Yi's shot and then the strip by Liu Wei (with Yi pressuring him)--Dirk blew it. In the clutch, Yi came up big twice. Dirk came up small.

Stat lines don't tell the story of this game. If you didn't watch it, there's a link to the rewind on NetsDaily.

I've watched all the China games live. Yes, I wake up at crazy hours to do this. Dirk did hit some amazing contested shots and showed he's a complete player. The match ups performance are hard to judge. I thought Yao dominated Kamen and Dirk played better than Yi.

Sun Yue with his defense was the wild card. He's going to be a great addition to the Lakers. The kid loves to block shots and he can play point.
