Nasri: I'm My Own Player

Arsenal's West Bromwich winner Samir Nasri insists that any statements insisting him to be the replacement of Aliaksandr Hleb are false, as the Frenchman is his own player...

Samir Nasri was transferred from Marseille to Arsenal in long-drawn out switch in July. Since then many comparisons have been mooted, and has even been dubbed the heir to Zinedine Zidane's throne. An analogy that the young playmaker deems a weight on his shoulders.

Due to the departure of Aliaksandr Hleb to Barcelona, London reports have long stated that Nasri will be the direct replacement for the Belarussian. Again though, Samir moves to distance himself from these claims.

The 21-year old told the Daily Mail: "I came here to make a forward step in my career and I know people expect a lot from me. When I arrived though, no-one said I was the successor to Alexander Hleb or anything like that."

He added: "We play very different football, me and Hleb, so I am going to try and bring my kind of game and play well week in week out."

Nasri finished off a swift Arsenal move to complete a debut goal in Saturday's victory over the Baggies.
