    China vs. Lithuania.

On Comcast, the NBC Olympic Basketball Channel is on channel 183. Don't know where it is on other cable providers.

If China wins--and it might--it will face the winner of Spain-Croatia, which precedes it. That would put China into the Final Four.

If China loses--and it probably will--it will face the loser of Spain-Croatia.

The Olympics rank the final eight through consolation games.

And the game will be on "rewind" probably as early as 8 or 9 a.m. at this url:

I'm pulling for a china win, and I'd love to see a rematch against Spain. Would be entertaining for the crowd and everyone watching, and I think China has a legit chance to take the game the 2nd time around.

China lost, and I'm disappointed. It pisses me off to see some of the chinese players play so passively, and that is probably because I'm chinese and I play aggresively and do alot of yelling on defense and offense. They panic too much and it leads to horrible shots or turnovers. When the guards pass it into Yao they should throw it higher and just let him get it, especially if they are on his back. If there is a guard trying to double team Yao for the cheap steal, you gotta let him know that he's coming, which they don't do, THEN get themselves set in position in the shooting motion or be ready to make a quick pass. China spaces themselves out too much, which nullifies any kind of quick passing.

Man I want to play for my people or coach them or something....shiet

I am Chinese, too and I agree, the team is just not really coached well and someone needs to show the guards how to play basketball because these guards stink...

Yi was pretty good when he was in there. He picked up fouls though so he couldnt play long. I thought he was a very effective rebounder.

The chinese guards are scrubs. They cant pass and they can't defend and in this game they couldn't shoot. They have to learn to play physical and fight through screens. There is no excuse for getting picked off so easily! Fight through it! I'm looking foward to 2010. Maybe then Yao will retire from CNT and it will be all on Yi. I hope he can handle the pressure then.

The other team was better. Much better. Their sagging defense shut down Yao and the Chinese guards came up empty on the perimeter. The other way, they ran and shot effectively. Olympic basketball is about interior defense and 3 point shots. They did both well.

Well, I guess the guards - and Yi - will have to work on their 3 point shooting up until the next Olympics.

Quite a disappointment that they weren't able to come up big, although not too surprising considering the talent of Lithuania's shooters.

umm i watched the game and Yi sat most of the 2nd half with 3 fouls... 3... not 4... 3... the coach forgot bout him... he dominated the first quarter with 6 points and like 8 rebs... and china was outcoached... and they kept sayin it... well snapper kept sayin it... the CNT is way too soft... lith just kept bumpin them... this is the medal round... u gotta get a bit tougher... and also he said... when they are open for the 3 they pass into yao... when they are contested they take the 3... they didnt have an identity... and lith exposed all of CNT's weaknesses

I believe it's 5 fouls to foul out in international play not 6. It's like college.

Thanks for the welcome, guys. :)

That they did. Lithuania had more better players.

Yi did dominate the first quarter. Yao was swarmed, and Yi scored and rebounded enough to keep China even. When Yi was benched China lost.

Yi was also slowing down the Lit running game. When a big man runs with the guards like Yi does, he gives his team a 4 on 3 advantage on all breaks until the other bigs catch up.

that coach for the CNT was from lith... i now see why he was replaced... he didnt establish a game plan for the chinese... sad to see... they had the talent to beat em... just sad

He got his 4th foul like 1 minute after he went in during the 3rd. That forced Jonas K to play Du Feng. Reallly Yi played a good 1st quarter and got in foul trouble, but hes gotta learn to play smarter when hes in foul trouble. I dont blame him for his fouls though. Lithuania were hacking all over yao and they call Yi for some ticky tack shit.

That's all true. Yao is the superstar in China and on that team, and Yi is the upstart trying to take shots away from him, so he is benched. End of game.

But you shouldn't blame the coach for not having the guards to win, for all those rushed and missed shots, for Yao's slowness up and downcourt. Nor can you take away the great transition play, passing, and hitting open 3's from Lit. Gotto give those guys some credit too.

upstart of takin shot away from yao? are u kidding me? yao couldnt even position himself to give his guards the angle for the pass... pls... get off yao's balls... he needs to be more assertive in the post... lith just bodied him with 6'10" Centers and he showed hes too nice...

PLS Yi actually came to play... and ya i can blame the coach for not having the identity... and not coming out ready for physical play... thats the coaches job...

Yes you take him out. You don't let one of your key guys pick up 4 fouls in the first half. It's a long game and you hope the other players can keep it close.

ok if i remember correctly its 9:47 left in the third he goes out and comes back in a little in the 4th and picked up his 4th foul than sat down until 2:57 left in the 4th... ARGH ...

whatever they lost but to add the coach sucked... he didnt have a plan against lith and it showed

My bad... when I saw your original post I mistook 2nd half for 2nd quarter.
