All I hope for is for Hassell, Ager, and Swift to be moved, something to happen to KVH's contract, and for us to get Hodge and Livingston.

Dumpy, I like your analysis, but I am wondering if you would expand on why you felt there was no chance that Boki and Krstic would return. Obviously, there is a numbers game, but did you mean their skill set or mind set would not fit in this year? And do you think there is a chance that Krstic will return in the future?

First off, I was at Nets ticket holder event recently in which Bobby Marks said the team wants to be at 14 on Opening Night so they have some flexibily (injury replacement, free agent availability, mid-season trades). The Nets have 16 players with KVH, 15 without and a need for backup point.

So they will be doing something...and I expect it will be beyond buying out Ager, which they could have done at any time after February 19. Frank actually likes Ager's work ethic.

If all else fails--and small moves get the job done, I would like to see the Nets do with KVH what the Cavs and Hornets did with David Wesley's contract last year: use him to pick up a young player with potential or pick up some cash for future deals.

Wesley had a $1.75 million contract with a $250,000 buyout, exercisable at the start of the season. The Cavs traded him to the Hornets for Cedric Simmons. Time showed that Simmons was not a great pickup, but at least he had some potential, some upside that could be developed. Just before the season, the Hornets traded Wesley to the Nets for Bernard Robinson and Mile Ilic and cash. The Nets gave the Hornets enough cash to buyout Robinson and Ilic who were dumped that afternoon. The Nets held onto Wesley for another day to see if they could use his contract in another deal, but couldn't.

A contract with a big number but a small buyout is ideal for late October as teams try to get under the luxury tax.

If the Nets were really serious about Nocioni, why did they sign Najera? Not enough minutes to satisfy both of those guys who play the same bare-knuckle game.
