LT Jake Long 23 yrs old LG Justin Smiley 25 yo C Samson Satele 23 yo RG Donald Thomas rookie 6th rd (?) 22 yo RT Vernon Carey just turned 27 A good young nucleus... I like it alot... Its my understanding they did well against Jville's DL which if I recall is pretty good. Vernon is a FA and needs to be given a contract extension. It may get kinda hairy in the early season but as soon as these guys gel and the secondary solidifies then the 'phins will surprise in '08 and contend in '09 & beyond.
Jax DL is pretty good. They did lose Stroud (although, he's been hurt lately)... and that DE who went to New Orleans, who I'm drawing a blank on right now... And they have intriguing prospects in Harvey and Groves at DE... That OL is young. I like Satele a lot too. I don't know anything about your RG though...
Thomas is a 6th round draft pick from UCONN....hes better than where he was drafted.....he fell because of a lack of experience, not playing a lot of football before walking on at UCONN....hes been impressive in camp, especially as a road grader, but time will tell how he plays on Sundays....
Depending on where they pick next year, I could see them drafting a player like Michael Oher, installing him at LT, and moving Long to the right side.....not because Long cant play LT, but because he so ideal for RT....
If they can't or choose not to resign Vernon Carey than Jake to move to ORT. I believe the rational for taking Long & putting him @ OLT was he reminded Tuna of Jumbo Elliott who wasthe Left Tackle during Bill's reign w/ the G Men. The phins OL as it currently stands will be real good w/ the potential to be great i.e. the Cowboys line under Jimmy
