Cicinho Left Out Of Roma Squad For Supercup

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti revealed that Brazilian full back Cicinho has been left out of the squad for the Italian Supercup match against Inter tomorrow for disciplinary reasons.

Cicinho has been left out of Roma's squad for tomorrow's Italian Supercup final against Inter due to disciplinary reasons. This was confirmed by coach Luciano Spalletti, who explained the situation during a press conference.

"Cicinho was not happy with the distribution of first team shirts during training this morning," he said. "He said this was not the way he wanted things to go. We will clarify this later."

Spalletti will hope this incident will not disturb the atmosphere in the team as they prepare for the first official match of the season, a game in which new recruit Julio Baptista might make his debut.

"We have to pay attention to each player's qualities. To make the team work well together, everyone has to make sacrifices. We signed Baptista because he can play in several different roles, and he's fast and powerful.

"It's good to get started again and if we are here challenging for silverware it means we did well last season. We are ready for this battle and we deserve to be here."

On of his new Inter colleague Jose Mourinho, he said: "I don't know how much Inter have changed with Mourinho. He is a great coach and his record speaks for itself. I saw during some summer friendlies that he has given the team more character."

On the possibility of seeing captain Francesco Totti on the pitch, he said: "It's a good thing that he is eager to get back on the field, but I think that right now he is unable to truly give a contribution to the team."

Finally, on president Franco Sensi, who passed away a week ago, Spalletti concluded: "All we can do is give our all for the president, the way we've always done. It would be nice to dedicate the trophy to him, but first of all we want to give 100%, and then we'll see what happens."
