[Chron] Rockets unveil preseason plans

The Rockets’ preseason schedule announced Thursday will start with games against fellow Southwest Division teams, but it will end with a different and more interesting form of familiar.

The Rockets will begin their preseason schedule very much as they will the regular-season schedule: at home against the Memphis Grizzlies before playing one of their in-state rivals.

In the preseason, the second game will be against the San Antonio Spurs at Toyota Center, rather than on the road against the Mavericks. But the more interesting twist to the preseason schedule will come at the end.

New Rockets forward Ron Artest and longtime Kings coach Rick Adelman will end the preseason with consecutive games against their former team, including the preseason finale Oct. 23 in Arco Arena.

The Rockets will also play the champion Boston Celtics in Manchester, N.H., Oct. 11 and the relocated Seattle team in Tulsa, Oct. 13 before heading to Memphis on Oct. 15.

Oct. 7 vs. Memphis 7:30 p.m

Oct. 9 vs. San Antonio 7:30 p.m

Oct. 11 at Boston (at Manchester, N.H.) 6:30 p.m

Oct. 13 at Oklahoma City (at Tula, Okla.) 7:30 p.m

Oct. 15 at Memphis 7 p.m.

Oct. 17 vs. Sacramento 7:30 p.m

Oct. 23 at Sacramento 9 p.m.
