Of course the Cavs would have wanted someone as talented as JR Smith, but they would have had to take back some big contracts like Kenyon or Nene and given up real talent in order for the Nuggets to consider it.
I'm not sure what to make of this; JR Smith would have been a good addition, but there's something about him that doesn't fill me with confidence. It might be his own incredible athleticism working against him; it just makes him seem a little "gimmicky" and the Cavs have had enough of gimmicks with Damon Jones around for a few years. The author makes a good point about the pick and roll with LeBron and Mo; that could be devastating. The only way for the defence to properly defend a pick and roll with these two would be to send three guys at the pick, so that they wouldn't leave one of LeBron and Mo open. They would, therefore, be leaving another Cavalier open. Therefore, the Cavs must be weary of doing this whilst Ben Wallace is on the floor, since the defence won't mind leaving him wide open in favour of stopping LeBron and Mo. If they had LeBron at the PF, with Z and the 5 and then perhaps Mo, Boobie and Sasha/Wally on the floor, the defence could not really afford to leave any of them wide open, and that could be when they are at their most devastating, provided that Sasha/Wally is shooting well.
