Then what is Yi? What does he do? I know he can hit the three. So what else is there? And when did I say those guys would play ahead of Hayes?

Yeah your right Ager's just useless period. Silly Jacoby.

About the coaching decisions... how did they win those tight games late in the season against San Antonio and Houston? Or just tight games in general? Did Rivers' efforts to hijack the team fail?

Hm, other than a six-week stretch at the beginning of this year, Ellsbury has been so mediocre that I just couldn't imagine how he would be anyone's favorite player. To each their own. Maybe it helps explain why you are having a difficult time appreciating what the nets are building. 35 win will be a snap. You better hope for less than 40, though, because I'm apt to select Stromile Swift . . .

I'll tell you what, if the Nets fail to win 35 games, I'll proclaim that Ellsbury is better than Tim Raines (who was once my favorite player a long, long time ago).

All I know is, Ellsbury has 43 stolen bases and provides astounding defense in center. You can't have everything from a rookie, his average will come around.

If you would like to discuss Ellsbury further, my sig is linked to a very special place. :)

What exactly are the Nets building, by the way? Vince Carter, Devin Harris, average rookies/sophomores and various mediocre free agents will only take you so far. Not to 35 wins, it won't.

Based partially on their recent experience, the Nets have a very distinct idea about what it takes to build a winning franchise. Having the most superstars (whatever that means) is not necessarily the answer. Just ask Denver.

Denver played very little defense. They traded all of it this offseason. The Celtics had three superstars, our team won it all, because we played defense and we didn't have any idiots on our team.

The Sixers will finish above sixth. They got all there players back plus Elton Brand. Thaddeus Young will also have another year under his belt and he should be much improved after his great Summer League.

ok, that's a good start there. The nets will play defense, and don't have any idiots on the team. Other than Swift, of course, but I fully expect him to be gone by opening night.

Ask yourself: who was most responsiible for the nets' erratic defense last season? The answer is a combination of Jason Kidd, Marcus Williams, Richard Jefferson, Nenad Krstic (horrible), Boki Nachbar, Sean Williams, and Jamaal Magloire. What do they have in common with each other? Which one is not like the others?

I wasn't comparing the Nets to last year's Celtics. Different teams and situations entirely.

SWAT isn't like the others. He's still there. Other than that I don't know.

As for what that whole crew has in common - all but one is gone, I know that much.

exactly--they are all gone. The nets are not a random collection of players. There is a plan in place.

    2 things:

Yi isn't doesn't shoot the 3 very much.
Jacoby's arm is average at best, for a CF.

I don't necessarily disagree with that, in relation to the future. Not this season.

Will someone explain exactly what Yi is useful for? All the Bucks games I watched last year, Yi was just taking up space.

I don't care about Ellsbury's arm. He's a gold glove caliber center fielder and has unreal range out there.

Yi was stuck with Mo Williams and Michael Redd. He'll do better with Vince and Harris.
