Link Now that he's cut he can't be traded (of course) meaning they saved a few bucks to cut him, but now he can cut into the cap space in 2 years during the big 2010 Free Agent class, when they had a chance to pair a few big names with Roy, Oden, Fernandez and company. Go Celtics! 10 appearances of 2/3 minutes please! -Petey
Marty is incorrect again. The Blazers didn't buyout Miles. They received permission from the league after extensive medical reviews to count him as medically retired. As for the 2010 free agency class, the Blazers were never going to be players in it because of the way their cap is structured. There plan was to make a move in the summer of 2009. They can instead make a trade during this season with Raef's contract and net out the same.
Exactly, and because he is obviously still capable of playing Stern will be investigating it. I think I read somewhere that Darius will be suspended for he first few games of the upcoming season, but don't quote me on that.
10 game suspension for performance enhancing / weight loss drugs Actually, he isn't capable of playing. Miles is bone on bone in the knee and wasn't able to put in the PT work the Blazers wanted. The whispers I've heard indicate that Miles is taking stuff that allows him to ignore the pain at least long enough for small workouts. I want to see him go through a full training camp. The rule in the CBA about salary going back on the books was intended to prevent teams from resigning their own players to a lower contract after getting a medical retirement. It wasn't intended to be used by one team to punish another (which is what Ainge is doing). It will have to be addressed in the next CBA.
Weird situation. I think the Blazers might assemble a legal team because of how much money this will cost them. I dont get why Miles does this for. The Blazers gave him that insane contract and he repays them back by pulling this stunt when he probably will never be an impact player again. He is a millionaire many times over, so its not like he is broke needing the money. It would have been more honorable if he just went and played overseas and got a big contract if he wanted to play basketball that bad.
I doubt Miles makes it past training camp. His knee is shot and the guy has the worst work ethic in the league. He's lost athleticism which his whole game relied on, and he has never had a consistent shot. Either way like Cpaw said, doesn't matter, they have Raef's expiring to dangle at the deadline if Miles does get put back on the books.
Im beggining to hate Darius Miles more and more each day, this guy is fukin stupid, just fuk off, your no good, your knee is never going to be okay, your costing a whole organization millions of dollars because your a greedy son of a bitch, this ton of lard needs to take illegal drugs to not be a fat slob, maybe if you actually worked towards your career and enhancing your body naturaly in the begining of your career you wouldnt be in this situation, its your fault so dont make the blazers pay for your completely stupid, idiotic decisions! Fuk Off Darius Miles!
