Sam Hurd's out of the boot 12:40 PM Mon, Sep 08, 2008 | Permalink | Yahoo! Buzz Tim MacMahon E-mail News tips Sam Hurd is no longer wearing a protective boot on his left ankle. He will work on the treadmill the next two days and plans to test his ankle by running on ground Wednesday. Hurd, who suffered a high ankle sprain in the Aug. 28 preseason finale, is expected to miss 2-4 weeks. In other words, there is a slim chance that he'll be able to play Monday night against the Eagles. I'm not too worried about our WR. I did see Stanback get a couple of catches, which was pretty cool. But we used a lot of 2 TE formations.... and that was more of a norm. Austin being back is interesting... I wonder if he'll take the 3rd spot over Stanback. And I wonder if Hurd will ever re-take the 3rd spot when is back. Supposedly, Austin was tearing it up in preseason and training camp. This might be the break Austin needs... and Hurd might never get the 3rd spot back.
