Phillips: Barber should be good to play Monday 1:09 PM Mon, Sep 08, 2008 | Permalink Aaron Chimbel E-mail Cowboys coach Wade Phillips talked about the mounting injuries for his team. Tony Romo got 13 stitches in his chin. "He didn't seemed bothered by it," Phillips said of Romo. "I didn't think about taking him out." Marion Barber left with brusied ribs, but Phillips says trainers expect him to be fine. WR Miles Austin and LB Anthony Spencer are both scheduled to practice this week, both missed the Browns game. CB Terence Newman feels better and Phillips says he may play next Monday vs. Philadelphia.
Besides the obvious, Marion is also a better pass blocker, which will undoubtedly be important for the game against Philly. This is good news, if its true.
Tony Romo's INT was "caused" (using that word lightly) by pressure from his right after Felix Jones got blown up trying to pass block. Now I like having Felix and Choice has RB's, but I'm not ready to take the Eagles that lightly.
It was also caused by Owens running a poor route. Ideally, Romo would have thrown the ball right away, which would have resulted in a TD, but he waited another second or two... Then the Felix thing happened. And then Owens, having beat the CB, decided to fade to the back of the end zone instead of flattening his route (like he should have). Romo threw the ball where Owens should have been; Owens wasn't there; Wright was able to jump under the route because Owens ran the incorrect route. Lots of things went wrong there. But the bigger question is... why on the 5 yard line...with the way we were running the ball.... did we pass? I understand Barber wasn't in the game, but still.... why not run?
hah no kidding. Our 3rd string rookie RB averaged just over 5 ypc. Oh you can see his play of the game here, look for the video on the right side.
Yep..... it was nice seeing such a good run game from more than 1 back. We didn't get that last year (JuJo sucked)
