New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick says he’s in no rush to sign a new quarterback.

Belichick spoke Tuesday, one day after losing MVP Tom Brady for the season with a knee injury.

The coach said quarterbacks Tim Rattay and Chris Simms were in Foxborough on Monday, but they didn’t work out or take physicals.

It appears the team will go into Sunday’s game against the New York Jets with two quarterbacks—veteran backup Matt Cassel and rookie Kevin O’Connell. Cassel replaced Brady in New England’s 17

And Belichick says the team hasn’t decided on whether to add another quarterback.

Wonder what his plan is. Does he really think that Cassel will do good in the coming games?

He'll probably wait to see how Cassel does against the Jets before he does anything drastic. I heard Matt Gutierrez might get signed as an emergency option, for the time being.

So if they beat the Jets then Cassel will remain the QB?

Based on hearing Belichick's interview on WEEI, it sounds like he is pretty content with Cassel.

It will be an interesting game to watch no doubt. All eyes on Cassel. He better show up ready. :)

If he runs out and signs someone right away, that pretty much kills Cassels confidence. Bill is smart on waiting at least a couple games since they are 1 - 0.

I think the plan is to go with Cassel. Simms and Rattay would have been backups.

I also remember reading that the team is very, very high on Kevin O'Connell.
