Löw: We Showed Great Morale

German national team trainer Joachim Löw was left to reflect on a point gained by his side, despite the fact that they trailed three times against an impressive Finland side.

Germany were given a real tough time against Finland in Helsinki as they went behind on three occasions to goals from Johansson, Vayrynen, and Sjolund.

However a Miroslav Klose hat trick saw the Germans fight back each time to seal a hard-fought 3-3 draw.

“We showed great morale to come back from every goal they scored” Löw said after the game.

“But when you draw 3-3, obviously not everything has gone well. We were not so good against their long balls.

“We will try to improve on a few things. We wanted to take three points but I am happy because we had a number of young players on the pitch” he added.

“Miroslav Klose was a class act tonight. Trust counts for a lot in life” Löw concluded with special praise for his captain.

The Bayern Munich striker, who has come under a lot of pressure recently for his lack of goals, was equally glad to have secured a point.

“It was important for us to keep looking for a way forward” he said. “We didn’t however have things quite the way we wanted them.”

Defender Heiko Westermann, who is becoming quite the regular at the heart of the German defence, added his opinion to the German performance.

“We played well against a deep lying Finnish team, but to concede three goals is too many. Despite that we showed great resolve to come back three times.”
